ship of fools keyart

Honed your seafaring skills in Sea of Thieves? Previously proven yourself as the King of Seas? It’s time to hit the ocean waves once again with Team17’s Ship of Fools. As the name suggests, this one focuses a little bit more on the zany side of pirate life.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, Ship of Fools is Team17’s latest, created by those at Fika Productions.

Having already gathered up some acclaim, grabbing multiple awards as it has done so, Ship of Fools is a seafaring cooperative roguelite, one that sees you heading off on an adventure as you take on The Everlasting Storm and the Aquapocalypse.

Your home in Ship of Fools is that of the Stormstrider, whilst your friends are the fools; a bunch of anthropomorphic oddities who are happy to take the fight to the leviathans of the deep. They’ll want to do so too, otherwise that ship will be no more.

Priced up at £12.99 from the Xbox Store, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S, Ship of Fools will have you taking in some bombastic nautical combat, enjoying the draw of some endless replayability and taking in the fast, frantic nature of the cooperative experience. See, your task – as well as to survive – is to journey on out on the Stormstrider, beating back those who try to board. With the most choppy of waters holding mystery and secrets, it’ll only be by taking on various runs will this Ship of Fools ever really get to prove themselves.

It’ll all play out with some brilliant visual and audio deliverance too – so much so that Ship of Fools has just picked up multiple awards at Canada’s MEGAMIGS, highlighting the audio, the music, the art and the game design.

It all promises to be a bit good and with Team17’s track record of gold, we’ve got high hopes for this one. Stay tuned for our full review of Ship of Fools on Xbox Series X|S

Game Description:

Ship of Fools is a seafaring roguelite co-op game where you play the Fools, the only creatures fool enough to brave the sea. The Great Lighthouse that once protected the Archipelago is broken and a storm of malice and corruption is coming. Together, you and your ship mates will jump aboard The Stormstrider and make your voyage across the sea. Man the cannons, ready your sails and protect your ship from sea monsters over multiple runs. It’s up to you to defend your home from the almighty Aquapocalypse. In a nutshell, Ship of Fools is a game about blasting away your seaborne foes with mighty cannons as you defend your ship. Inspired by modern classic roguelites and built for co-op, you’ll want to bring your first mate on deck and enjoy oarsome combat as you unlock new trinkets and artifacts to help you save the world from catastrophe. Uncover lost treasures and remote shops on the islands of the Archipelago, but plan your moves carefully! As you chart your way through the sector, the Everlasting Storm shifts and changes, blocking your paths with its fury. You’ll need to adjust your course in reaction to storm movements and decide when you can brave a trip to discover what lurks inside the storm. Man your ship as a solo sailor and fight your way through dangerous waters and keep the glory for yourself, Ship of Fools offers solo play as well as multiplayer. As they sing in old sailor songs: it’s sometimes better to have no crew than a dysfunctional one! With many Fools to play with, unique items to find and unlock, combat encounters to fight in and many islands to visit, each run will bring something new to your voyage. Bolster your strength each time, ready to defeat the monsters of the deep sea.
