Can we continue to blame the brilliance of Stray for the absolute ton of cat-themed games to have hit the market over the last year? Good, because we’re going to do just that as sCATch: The Painter Cat releases on Xbox.Â
Don’t get us wrong, this is a world away from the absolutely stunning world that Stray dragged us into on PlayStation and PC, but it’s still something that looks to appeal, particularly relevant to anyone who has a puzzle itch that needs a scratch.Â
Scratch it is what sCATch: The Painter Cat will do too. See, this is a puzzler in which you take control of a little cat – we’re guessing their name is sCATch – before sending them around a whole ton of maze-like puzzles, painting as they go. It’s kinda like Cat Slide Tiles and SokoCat – Combo, just different.
We’re guessing that this little feline has been up to no good, dropping its paws into pots of paints before running through the house without a care in the world. And keeping those thoughts in mind may be best for how sCATch: The Painter Cat plays out.
It’s certainly a colourful affair, with your main goal being to paint the walls of some forty levels a variety of colours. Do so and this little cat can head to the exit, escape, and do similar over and over again with further stages. A number of different mechanics and level obstacles then await.
Key features include:
- – 40 levels;
- – Different mechanics;
- – Original soundtrack;
- – Pixel Art;
sCATch: The Painter Cat should be a nicely free-flowing puzzler to keep us busy for an evening or two, and we’d suspect that the £4.19 asking price (discounted to £3.35 at launch), will be more than low enough to drag in interested cat fans.
We’ll let you know how this one plays on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised for new-gen) in the days ahead. For now, take a swipe at the Xbox Store and you’ll find a download can be yours.Â
