Super Mega Baseball 3 steps up to the Game Pass plate, alongside two others

There are two welcome additions to PC Game Pass today, and one on console.

On the console side, it’s a Game Pass home run as Super Mega Baseball 3 makes its debut. On the PC side, we warmly welcome Galactic Civilisations III and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Super Mega Baseball 3 came to Xbox in 2020, and we were reasonably glowing about its arcade-leanings, giving it a 4/5. We said “if you’re just looking for a game that gives you thrills, spills, and a lot of fun, then Super Mega Baseball 3 might just be for you”.

It’s worth noting that this is not a licensed baseball game, so don’t expect authentic names, faces or sponsors. Instead, what you get is a sheer volume of stuff. We found it borderline ridiculous in its generosity, with more modes than you can shake a 25” bat at. In amongst them is a Franchise Mode, which allows you to take a team through multiple seasons, folding in management elements like hiring, firing, scouting, aging and transfers. But there’s also every conceivable multiplayer mode, and it’s cross-platform too.

Over on PC, Galactic Civilisations III finally makes it to Xbox Game Pass. This is getting on a bit now, first releasing in 2015. But it’s not lost too much of its luster. We haven’t reviewed it ourselves, but Metacritic has it at a lofty 81, and anyone who has a fondness for the past iterations in the series will want to take this opportunity. It’s all about building a civilization and conquering the galaxy, and developers 4X state that it is their largest strategy game ever. You will be able to choose from dozens of unique races, before determining an approach of diplomacy, espionage, technological advances, or much more besides.

Finally, Dragon Ball FighterZ has been basking in the Xbox Game Pass sun for some time, but it is now making its way to PC Game Pass. We had a huge amount of love for the fighter when it first came out, giving it a 4.5/5 and saying “win or lose, you’re going to have a smashing time, and that’s all that really matters”. If you find it hooking into you, then there’s an absolute cavalcade of DLC and fighters for it – with a new one added today in the form of Android 21 (Lab Coat), so it might be a dangerous new addiction.

The only remaining Game Pass game for February, creeping onto the last day of the year, is Alice: Madness Returns (PC) on February 28th. It’s been a good month for PC Game Pass additions, outnumbering the releases on the Xbox.

Do any of these releases make you want to batter up?  Let us know in the comments below, or on our social channels.
