Swashbuckling platforming adventure Olija looks to drop anchor in early 2021

Ahoy mateys, there’s word from keen explorers Skeleton Crew Studio and their crewmates Devolver Digital that swashbuckling adventure game Olija is setting sail on consoles and PC in early 2021. But what can we expect when the enchanting, action-fantasy experience drops anchor?

Olija is a puzzling, action-packed platforming adventure focusing on Faraday’s quest, a man who’s shipwrecked then trapped in the mysterious country of Terraphage. Armed with a legendary harpoon, he and other castaways must try to leave this hostile country in order to return to their homelands. Wielding the harpoon skillfully and rethinking your ideas about movement is the only sure-fire way to leave in one piece. Through some intrepid exploration, narration and razor-sharp combat, you’ll discover a strange world and its inhabitants. One such inhabitant is Olija, an enigmatic lady that Faraday finds himself bound to over time.

The mysterious, handcrafted world of Olija is inspired by a mixture of legends told by sailors and Asian fantasy. This is brought together by a beautifully melancholic soundtrack comprised of Flamenco, lo-fi and traditional Japanese music. It’s also influenced by cinematic adventure games, but ultimately, Olija is sure to be a story in itself about facing the unknown while facing adversity.

Those looking to delve into the world of Olija will have to hang tight until the early part of 2021, which is when it’s set to release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC – naturally, that should mean it’ll be playable on next-gen consoles too. Fortunately for PC plunderers, they can acquire a taste of the action immediately on Steam due to a free demo being available.
