KEMCO are well known for delivering some of the most fantastical tales to PC and console, with a huge number of games having given gamers the opportunity to test their adventuring skills over the last few years. It seems like that quest pot is never-ending though as another testing fantasy JRPG appears on Xbox and PC – Chroma Quaternion.

Slightly dodgy name aside, if you’ve played any of the multitude of KEMCO games to have released on PC or console in the last however many years – Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom and Asdivine Cross, for two – you’ll no doubt be right at home here.

Available to purchase and download on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Smart Delivery and X|S badging in place for those gaming in the next generation, Chroma Quaternion sees you heading into a world of four kingdoms; a world that is governed and coloured by the annual seasons.

Chroma Quaternion will set you back £12.49 from the Xbox Store, but should you decide to drop the cash on this latest experience, will be treated to a welcoming adventure. This time around strange things are afoot in KEMCO-land (what’s new there?!) and it’ll be up to you to take a gang of characters through the world ahead, completing quests and taking in a jolly good jaunt.

With skills aplenty, turn-based battles at every corner, and the chance to utilise some special orbs and magical effects, it all seems like the standard KEMCO madness that we have previously taken in. It even comes with the usual charming pixel arted style too.

Features include:

  • A quest around four kingdoms, colored by the seasons!
  • Journey through the kingdoms to get to the bottom of the mystery!
  • Make use of up to three roles per character to enjoy the variety in skills, effects and even costumes.
  • In turn-based battles you can charge special orbs to use Act Over and launch up to four continuous actions.
  • It’s fun just to watch the charm of pixel arts in this fantasy JRPG!

Our full review of Chroma Quaternion will be able to divulge whether this adventure is on par or exceeds those which have come before it – make sure you keep an eye out for our thoughts.

If you’re sold though, either because you’re a fan of what KEMCO have previously produced or just because the fantasy setup is appealing, get yourself over to either the Xbox Store, the Microsoft Store or Steam.

Game Description:

In a world with four kingdoms, each colored by a season, where roles are granted by the Quadeities, strange happenings suddenly threaten the peace there. A quest begins to find each one’s calling in this intrigued fate and journey through the kingdoms to get to the bottom of the mystery! Make use of up to three roles per character to enjoy the variety in skills, effects and even costumes. In turn-based battles you can charge special orbs to use Act Over and launch up to four continuous actions. It’s fun just to watch the charm of pixel arts in this fantasy JRPG!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
