The mainstream gamer who lives in all of us, the one who only goes for the latest and greatest Triple-A hits, is one that is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because, most of the time, the biggest games on the market are usually the best, but a huge curse given the extensive and ever-growing catalogue of casual indie titles that slip under the radar. Farm Together, out today on Xbox One, is one such game that will more than likely dodge the gaze of the majority, but it is a quick pick up and play affair that everyone should look into.
Available right now on is Farm Together on Xbox One. It’s always good to have that one game to go back to every once in a while to blow off steam with, and as Farm Together runs in the background while you are away, it will never be something you have to invest a whole play session into.
The clue is right there in the name – you are the proud owner of a fresh plot of land, and must plant crops, tend animals and expand your farm to profit from the natural riches you have inherited. Everything you do and make will come at a cost, both in monetary and timing terms, so a good way to play is to hop onto Farm Together, ensure all your crops are watered and the like, set up a couple of buildings and come back a few hours later to see that strides have been made on your farm. Selling your hard-earned produce is the other side to the coin, as it is integral you do so to earn enough money towards the next farming investment. It all plays out quite like a mobile game (the popular Hay Day immediately springs to mind), whereby you can spend as long or as little time as you wish online.
And then, of course, the ‘Together’ aspect comes into play: up to 16 people can all join one user’s farm and get to work, speeding up the progress immensely. Each player can be set different permissions, so don’t fear the onset of any evil griefers.
Throw in the appeal of character customisation, pets and a house acting as a completely new area to call your own, and Farm Together on Xbox One seems to be a nice little title that you can calmly play to your heart’s content – and with friends!
Farm Together is now available on Xbox One for £16.74, and is also available on PC. If you are still undecided on a purchase, then make sure to check out our full review of the game.
If you find yourself really taken with the game, then an extra Supporters Pack will bring exclusive outfits and hairstyles for an extra £1.69.
