dawn of the monsters launch

After recently releasing on Google Stadia, it’s time for the 13AM Games team to deliver their cooperative kaiju beat ‘em up to other formats. If you’re a gamer who deals in Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC play, it’s time to bear witness the Dawn of the Monsters.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC, with the game also playable on Google Stadia, Dawn of the Monsters is a new beat ’em up that brings forth cooperative kaiju gameplay, as playable behemoths look to liberate all.

It’s priced at £24.99 from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – and you should expect to see the game sitting at roughly that same price on other formats. Should you dip into the wallet and pay up the asking price, you’ll find yourself thrown into a land full of bone-crunching combat, tons of depth, RPG-styled upgrades and, best of all, destructible environments.

Dawn of the Monsters has you playing as one of four unique characters – Megadon, Ganira, Aegis Prime, and Tempest Galahad – as you work your way through no less then thirty-five different missions, beating back oncomers, performing the most brutal of attacks and honing your finest beat ’em up skills.

It’s a game that relishes the world of combat, with Rage Attacks, Cataclysm Attacks and finishing Executions all ready to be fired off at any point. When you include the fact that you can fully customise your Dawn of the Monsters game with DNA augmentations and totally destroy the real-world inspired locations you are fighting in, it’s easy to see why there is such a draw and appeal to what 13AM Games have created.

When you include local cooperative opportunities, some next-gen Series X|S optimisation and Smart Delivery (you’ll be playing the best Xbox version of the game depending on your system) and Dawn of the Monsters fast becomes even more appealing.

You’ll be able to get involved for yourself by visiting the digital store of your choosing, with the Xbox Store providing the downloads required for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players. Dawn of the Monsters is also available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam) and Google Stadia.

Game Description:

The cataclysmic battle between giant monsters has begun in this manga-inspired, side-scrolling, kaiju beat-’em-up! Titanic creatures known as Nephilim have invaded Earth, and the only hope of stopping them is DAWN (Defense Alliance Worldwide Network), which unleashes its own colossal combatants to defend against the enemy hordes! Take control of four hulking behemoths – Megadon, Aegis Prime, Tempest Galahad, and Ganira – each with distinct abilities and play styles, and smash your way through destructible real-world environments spanning more than 35 missions! Power up with DNA augments, crush foes with devastating Rage Attacks and brutal Executions, and team up with a friend for 2-player co-op action! You are the planet’s last line of defense…but will that be enough for mankind to survive the Dawn of the Monsters!?

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
