The Wings of Bluestar soar onto Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

wings of bluestar

Protect space and save mankind – Wings of Bluestar seems simple. Chances are success will be far from easy though.

Available to purchase and download today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, Wings of Bluestar from Shinu Real Arts and Eastasiasoft is a story-driven shoot ’em up in which you’ll look to save humanity against all evil.

Usual videogame set-up aside, Wings of Bluestar will have you introduced to Aya, a trainee pilot and their veteran ace friend Zarak, all as you dive into the depths of space and take down the threat within. But with a narrative kicking around alongside the shooting action, there will be much more to take in along the way.

Wings of Bluestar runs with a £12.49 price tag from the Xbox Store, with similar sitting on the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch storefronts. Whichever format you decide to play on though, this will combine the usual shoot ’em up action with some HD presentation, modern yet familiar gameplay and plenty of challenge.

Expect to find much in the way of ships, weapon upgrades and bullet hell-styled gameplay, whilst the story within promises various dialogue choices and multiple endings – that’s for both Aya and Zarak.

There’s more to this than meets the eye, with a training mode letting you get the practice in, a Boss Rush mode bringing forth the most deadly of foes and an in-game shop providing plenty of rewards.

The key features in all include:

  • Challenge 8 stages of side-scrolling bullet hell mayhem!
  • Enjoy hand-painted sprites and story scenes.
  • Choose between 2 playable pilots with unique ships.
  • Upgrade weapons as you progress!
  • Explore a deep narrative with dialogue choices and multiple endings.
  • Unlock artwork, sound test, extra game modes and more!

Our full review of Wings of Bluestar and how it plays on Xbox Series X|S is right here.

Wings of Bluestar is on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, fully optimised for the new-gen consoles and with Xbox Smart Delivery in place too – what this means is you’ll find yourself playing the best version possible for your specific console. It’s also on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch

Game Description:

Protect space against the final wave of an enemy that was once mankind’s ally! Blast off for a story-driven shoot’em up experience unlike any other! As mankind faces the remnants of a mysterious artificial intelligence, it’s up to trainee pilot Aya and veteran ace Zarak to investigate the resurgent threat against free space. Along the way, these defenders of peace will need to confront their past and learn more about themselves before they can uncover the truth of their enemies. Combining elements of traditional side-scrolling arcade shoot’em ups with HD presentation, Wings of Bluestar is both familiar and modernized, accessible yet challenging. In addition to multiple ships, weapon upgrades and intense bullet hell gameplay, a deep narrative experience awaits with dialogue choices and multiple endings for both playable characters. To extend the experience even further, Wings of Bluestar features boss rush mode, training and a shop to unlock in-game rewards.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
