In the past few years Xbox users have been pretty well treated with some great Xbox exclusives. It’s certainly been an enjoyable experience watching PlayStation fans salivating with envy about the way that we all got to play Rise of the Tomb Raider months before any other platform.
However, there are certain games and areas where the Xbox still seems to be a bit lacking. And with last year’s report that Microsoft doesn’t want to buy Xbox exclusives anymore, it’s hoped that a new third-party involvement could help us Xbox gamers enjoy a few genres that seem to be notably absent from our favoured gaming platform.
In particular it’s high-profile titles like Uncharted 4 that have been absent from the Xbox and have created some worrying headlines regarding the future of the Xbox One in light of the impressive narrative development of this PS4 exclusive. And even this is likely to pale in comparison to the huge wave of hype that’s already accompanying the release of No Man’s Sky that will undoubtedly give PlayStation users even more reason to feel smug.
Although there have been some high-profile Xbox exclusives recently, there’s been a certain degree of dissatisfaction regarding titles like Quantum Break that have suffered middling reviews. And whilst there’s no end of action titles for the Xbox there are certain genres that seem to be lacking.
Many have noted that there’s been a definite lack of city builder games for the Xbox, and whilst Cities: Skylines should be arriving later this year, it highlights a notable trend in the absence of simulation and strategy titles for the Xbox.
Even simple gambling games seem to be lacking in the Xbox line-up, whereas PC and mobile gamers can check this one example of how a simple slots game on the LadyLucks site can provide endless entertainment, big winnings and even come up with a pretty good approximation of mythic Greek themes.
Furthermore there have also been calls for more party styled games like Fusion Frenzy that are able to provide more local multiplayer fun on these powerful machines.
And with continuing confusion regarding certain skating games for the XBox, it seems that whilst we’re waiting for Gears of War 4 to land later this autumn, there are plenty of other missing titles that could be worked upon in order for Xbox to continue its race for console dominance.
