2026's Best Games

tour de france 2019

Grab your lycra, pick up your helmet and prepare to sit astride the ultimate two-wheeled aero machine. Yep, the Tour de France is coming and today we see the launch of the video game version of the sport with Tour de France 2019 on Xbox One and PS4.

Available to purchase and download right now on both Xbox One and PS4, Tour de France 2019 is the latest in the long running TDF series of games to have come out of the Bigben Interactive and Cyanide Studios teams, as they attempt to build on all which has gone before them to recreate the thrills, the spills, and the crashes of the sport.

Priced up at £39.99, Tour de France 2019 will give you the opportunity to experience the world’s most famous cycle race, from right inside the depths of the peloton, all as you pit yourself against the best cyclists racing today. You’ll find all 21 official stages of the Tour de France in place, and these have been meticulously recreated so you can experience all the thrills and challenges of a real race; breakaways, sprints and stamina management during gruelling hill climbs, are all par for the course. But each and every cyclist out there knows that is a gimme.

But it also comes complete with some new features which sets it apart from the games of years gone by, taking what was good about Tour de France 2018 and adding…

  • A multiplayer mode: for the first time in this franchise, up to four players can challenge each other online in a variety of short races
  • Local challenge mode: as well as descents, players can now race head to head in short and intense sprints
  • World championships in Pro Team and Pro Leader modes where the routes change with the seasons
  • Improved AI for ultra-realistic cyclist behaviour
  • New races: as well as the Tour de France, players can experience other iconic races, such as the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Nice and the Critérium du Dauphiné.

We’ll have a full review for you very soon, as we grab our gear and attempt to wrestle the Yellow Jersey from the chest of Geraint Thomas. All we can hope for is that Tour de France 2019 fares better than those of previous years.

We’ll be sure to let you know all the ins and outs as soon as possible, but for now, if you’re a cycling fan or just can’t resist the lure of the Tour, then head on over to the Xbox Store for Xbox One, or the PlayStation Store for PS4, and get your copy of Tour de France 2019 right now.

Game Description:

The yellow jersey is yours! The official route of the 21 stages of the 2019 Tour de France has been reproduced down to the last detail, and will take you from Belgium to the Champs-Elysées. You can also play online for the first time in the history of the series, challenging up to 3 other players in shorter, more intense races. Descents, sprints, team tactics… Experience the Tour from inside the peloton! – Online multiplayer: two to four players can challenge each other on a wide variety of races. – New challenges: Sprints – After the descents, players can challenge each other in Sprint mode. – New race: one of the oldest cycling competitions, the Tour of Flanders. – New ‘World Championship’ mode: ride to victory as team manager or leader.
