Two massive Xbox games land on Game Pass today!

How good is 2024 going to be for Xbox players? What about those with Game Pass subscriptions? We think ‘very good’ will be the answer – especially if we take the two new massive games that have landed on Game Pass today as the line in the sand.

January’s Game Pass additions are nothing but breathtaking. It all kicked off with the arrival of Close to the Sun and Hell Let Loose a couple of days back, but now that has been built on with a couple more additions. You’ll want to play them both too.

What’s landing on Game Pass today?

Ready for a new hundred-hour long adventure into the Assassin’s Creed universe? It’s that which you’ll be able to take on with the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. You can complement that with a playthrough of the weird and wonderful Figment.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

There’s no doubt that any Assassin’s Creed experience available on Game Pass is a good one. And that’s most definitely the case with the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Having released in 2020 – some three years ago, can you believe? – this saw Ubisoft take their renowned franchise to the land of the Vikings, as you became Eivor, a warrior. From there, it was the Dark Ages that would await, seeing you leading your troops, wielding powerful weapons and making your way through the wonderful world ahead.

If you’re one of those who have blown hundreds of hours into the AC brand, then Valhalla is most definitely one that you should be playing. And of course, that then allows for the smaller, more delicate option of Assassin’s Creed Mirage to follow.

A 5/5 review score of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla near demands a play…

“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Xbox is possibly my favourite entry in the series – stunningly glorious, fluid as you like, and full of mammoth amounts of content.”

Figment

Honestly, we thought we were never going to get hands on with Figment on Xbox. Having released on other systems years prior, and constantly being met with the ‘It’s definitely coming to Xbox’ statement whenever we got to speak to the dev team at Bedtime Digital Games, finally our wishes came true.

Figment: Journey into the Mind (to give the full name) is a wonderfully weird, ecentric journey that mixes in music with action adventure. Strange, surreal, joining the fun Dusty and his little mate, Piper, on a quest through the mind is one that sticks with us to this day.

With both combat and puzzle getting equal billing, along with an art style that just oozes quality, we found that playing Figment on Xbox was well worth the wait…

“If you fancy a journey into the recesses of the mind, where nothing happens the way you expect it to, then treat yourself to Figment: Journey Into the Mind. It’ll seep into your dreams.”

If you like what you find in Figment on Game Pass, we’d urge you to jump straight to Figment 2: Creed Valley after.

Next up in Game Pass land?

January is looking to deliver all the best stuff the way of Game Pass players and there is more to come. In a couple of days (January 11th) you’ll discover that your Game Pass subscription will give access to Super Mega Baseball 4 and We Happy Few. Those games will be followed on January 16th by Those Who Remain and Resident Evil 2. Yeah, Resi 2 on Game Pass. Good, eh?

Games Leaving Game Pass

There are – obviously – some games leaving the Game Pass service. As is standard, come mid-Jan (15th, in fact) you’ll need to say goodbye to four games. Garden Story, MotoGp 22 and a couple of Persona’s – Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable – will all be removed.

Today, you should be playing either Figment, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, or both! Let us know which you decide to start with. The comments are below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
