It’s been years since Myst burst onto the puzzle scene, providing gamers back in the early 1990’s the opportunity to embark on a strange first person adventure. It was however a game that spawned many, and hot on the heels of the launch of Obduction on Xbox One, we find another mysterious tale come the fore, that of Quern – Undying Thoughts.

Coming from the team at Zadbox Entertainment, Quern – Undying Thoughts is the latest first person puzzler to arrive on Xbox One, providing gamers with a whole new captivating adventure.

Priced at £16.74, Quern utilises the tried and tested method of first person puzzling, slowly unfurling a tale and numerous puzzle mechanics as it goes. With an atmospheric soundtrack pushing things along, and a freely explorable world to check out, it very much delivers in the same way as Myst did back in the day.

Following hints, working with an in-game notepad (and no doubt a real world one too), Quern asks you to wander round its world as you put your mind to the utter test, attempting to find your way out of the trappings you are in, and away to safety.

If you’re sold on a purchase of Quern – Undying Thoughts on Xbox One then the Xbox Store will, as always, provide you with the required download. Should you need more though, our full review is incoming. Keep an eye out for it in the days ahead.

Game Description:

You try to clear your vision and get on your feet after your arrival. You hear the portal closing behind you as you take a step forward. You are trapped, your way back is gone. Quern – Undying Thoughts is a first-person puzzle adventure game, inviting you on a journey to explore it and solve its challenges. Put your mind to the test with the increasingly complex puzzles, and unravel the mysteries of the island. Immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery of the island as you discover new places. Follow the hints of the past as you delve deeper into the story to understand the importance of your presence.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
