If you’ve worked on the likes of Bioshock Infinite, on Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, then you probably know a thing or two about what makes a game tick. That’s the hope as the newly formed indie studio at Cut to Bits announce their riveting and dynamic metroidvania-styled debut title, Venture to the Vile.

Founded by industry veterans who have worked on some seriously big games, Cut to Bits is a brand new development studio who are looking to create games that inspire player thoughtfulness; games that ask question as they are played. With that in mind, Venture to the Vile has been put into production.

Venture to the Vile focuses on a life that has been plunged into disarray, as a ton of monstrosities look to take over the world. This is ‘The Vile’, or at least that’s what the townsfolk have called it, as the residents of Rainybrook are put into shock.

It’s during this turmoil in which you come in as your friend Luella is lost into the dark unknown, leaving you hurt with a blackened and mutated arm that can transform into a vicious claw. The Vile is all-consuming by nature, and this therefore means you’ll be found absorbing its abilities and powers with every death blow. Your goal will be to save the town and find Luella, but on the flip, you may just become the monster you’re fighting against.

In this narrative and exploration-focused adventure, you’ll get the chance to investigate each corner of a town now lost to darkness, meet a peculiar cast of characters, take on unrelenting terrors, and discover new quests and stories as the world dynamically shifts and changes with the time of day and weather. it’ll play out through a rich 3D world, as you go navigating parallel planes of 2D gameplay. Basically put, if you can see it, you can reach it in Venture To The Vile.

Venture to the Vile is due to launch on PC and console in 2024, but you can already get wishlisting on Steam right now if you so wish. Give the trailer below a watch and see how that takes you. Of course, we’ll keep you looped as to the development of this one.
