Do you like a good stealth drop? If so, then you’ll want to get in on the action with the release of We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Especially as it is free to download for a limited time.

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is the latest in the We Were Here series; a run of games created by the team at Total Mayhem Games. But this one is a little different to the norm – and that’s not just because it’s initially free to download. See, this is a bite-sized adventure, one that can be completed in just an hour or three.

Head off on some Expeditions now

Available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is an asymmetrical cooperative puzzler in which you and a mate attempt to find progress. Communication is vital in any We Were Here game, and that is no more true than in We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip.

If you have played any of the series to date, you’ll know what to expect. We’ve had some great times with We Were Here, We Were Here Forever, We Were Here Together and We Were Here Too. We’re expecting similar with this one.

We’ll save most of the juicy stuff for our full review of The FriendShip, but unlike the previous games, this one offers a more casual experience where the focus lies not on escaping but on having fun together and testing the strength of your friendship – hence the name we guess. This bite-sized standalone We Were Here adventure is the perfect starting point for anybody curious about the series and is all about communication, teamwork and trust!

The devs speak up

Marion Strumpel, Marketing Director at Total Mayhem Games, is excited to finally talk about the new game, “After the success of We Were Here Forever, we were really looking forward to doing something special to celebrate our ‘friendchise’. We wanted to offer all gamers — no matter who they are or where they come from, whether they’ve played all of our games or none of them — a chance to enjoy the charm of the We Were Here Series, which is exactly what we’re doing with The FriendShip and its free release. We hope everyone enjoys this adventure, as we believe it is a well-deserved treat for all.”

Free and then paid

if you want to get involved, then you’ll find We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip on the Xbox Store today, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for some ten hours. It’s also on PlayStation and PC.

The game is free via a trial for now, until October 13th when a £2.99 price tag kicks in. Probably best to get involved right now, eh?

The FriendShip is the first game of the new series We Were Here Expeditions. Expect more to follow. Hope more to follow…

Game Description

It’s all about Communication, Teamwork… and Trust. Talk together, work together, and most of all, believe in your friend. The two of you are alone at sea when pursuing a distress call leads you to a deserted island, where you encounter a mysterious boat ride in an abandoned amusement park. This is a voyage you won’t forget, with puzzles that take two to solve. The state of your friendship will directly affect the state of your friend-ship!

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip has a free boarding ticket until October 13. Be aware, this is an actual test as you’ll be graded on how well you solve these puzzles! Will friendship truly last forever? Or is this friend-ship sinking to the bottom of the ocean?
