Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for October 2018 any good?

-

We may have some exciting and highly anticipated releases set to arrive on Xbox One throughout October, but let’s not forget that each month also brings Xbox Live Gold members a handful of games to enjoy for no extra cost at all. Whilst last month’s titles didn’t manage to rouse the biggest appreciation from everyone, there were still some hidden gems included that made for some classic additions to our gaming collections. With September all wrapped up and October upon us, it’s time to look into this month’s selection of free Games With Gold titles and see just how good or bad they are.

So, onto the games!

Overcooked – Instant Download

Local multiplayer may not quite be all the rage it was many years ago, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t games out there that are an absolute blast to play with friends in local party play.

Overcooked is one such game and if you’ve yet to experience the joys of cooking with friends then this is by far the best way to enjoy it. With food to cook and orders to fill, the life of a gourmet chef is no easy one. What if you were to chuck complete amateurs into the mix and place them say on the back of a moving vehicle… that’s just one of the possible environmental scenarios you’ll find yourself in as you either work with or against friends to become the ultimate cook of the kitchen. It goes without saying that the unique nature of such a joyful experience is one you should definitely be looking to experience if you’ve yet to do so.

Don’t delay on this one folks, add Overcooked to your collection now!

Victor Vran – Instant Download

If you’ve already played and enjoyed the Diablo series, chances are you aren’t going to find many games that can offer a better action RPG experience. Victor Vran however isn’t a bad effort and should you be looking for something new and engaging to play that you can ultimately get lost in then Victor’s your man!

As a hunter of demons, you are being called upon to head forth into the cursed city of Zagoravia to eliminate the dark forces that have taken over the lands and return the once quiet city to its former self. With the burdens of your past life weighing heavily though Victor Vran has no easy adventure to take; it’ll take a monumental effort to defeat the wicked demons running riot in Zagoravia.

Doesn’t sound too bad that does it? And that’s because it’s not bad at all. Of course it isn’t Diablo but with gameplay that’s highly reminiscent of the RPG king there is plenty to get stuck into if that is your gaming flavour.

With no price tag attached, what have you got to lose… besides your patience of course.

Stuntman Ignition – Not worth your time

When you look at the countless movie stars who actively take part in their own stunts, it all looks rather mesmerising. But whilst it may look awesome on the outside, taking part isn’t all that fantastic, especially when things go wrong and you’re forced to repeat those same actions over and over again.

When you think about it like that, the idea of being a stuntman loses a lot of it’s magic, and as someone who played a vast amount of Stuntman Ignition when it initially arrived on Xbox 360, the same is true for a game that looks to place you in that very role.

Whilst the unique nature of the game is certainly one to applaude, the overall premise isn’t all so fantastic when you realise you’ll be spending more time racing to keep within the time limits and not making any mistakes then you actually will be flying through the air and looking pretty damn fine whilst you do so.

If you’ve yet to experience Stuntman Ignition, then there’s no reason not to at least give it a download and check it out for yourself, but if you’re hoping for a mind-blowing experience of cool movie style stunting throughout, then prepare to be hugely underwhelmed.

Hitman: Blood Money – Consider it!

Hitman: Blood Money may be some 12 years old now, but the quality of the game is something we can’t underrate.

The Hitman series has always been a classic no matter which title you play, and with Blood Money proving one of the series favourites, it would be hard to ignore this one when it comes completely free of any price tag. So why are we only advising you consider it? Well that would be because once you spend many hours within the world of the more recent Hitman release, Hitman: Blood Money isn’t quite of the same standard.

Sure, it’s a great game but if it’s the ultimate Hitman experience you’re after, then the freedom and choice of the latest title is by far the way to get it. Of course, that will mean splashing the cash however and so with Hitman: Blood Money taking you to that same universe for no cost at all, this is one you should at least consider downloading and spending time with.

So, there we have it, October’s free Xbox Games With Gold options and our thoughts on just how good or bad they are. Will you be getting involved in any of this month’s free Xbox titles? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.
