taco tom 2 game

If it’s short, wacky, food-themed games you are after, it’s Penguin Pop Games who have got your back. After the runaway success of The Pizza Delivery Boy Who Saved the World, it’s time to take in Taco Tom 2.

Yep, we don’t know what happened to Taco Tom the first time around, but care a jot we do not for Taco Tom 2 looks to be a stupidly fun little foodie experience. And it’s available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Priced up at £4.49, Taco Tom 2 follows on neatly from Penguin Pop Games’ previous food-based wack-a-thon, The Pizza Delivery Boy Who Saved the World. Well, we say follows on, but in reality it doesn’t for whilst that was a cheesy visual novel, Taco Tom 2 is a cheesy arcade game in which you’ll need to catch falling ingredients in order to make tacos. Because, why not?!?

There’s a reason for this taco collecting though. See, you play as Tom – as in Taco Tom, keep up – a young taco who has decided it’s for the best to break up with his sweetheart, Sally. The thing is, Sally dies (we don’t know why but will find out in our full review!), and so Tom decides to make a line for a squid, Sapphire.

You’re still with us yeah?

Good, because Sapphire seems to like a bit of a taco and as Tom is a dab hand at creating such an item of food, the fit seems perfect. It’s just Tom really, really, needs to make sure his tacos are the finest tacos around.

Slight utter madness in set-up, Taco Tom 2 gets weirder as you work your way through ninety levels and ten unique worlds. It’s here where no less than 500 lines of dialogue will fill in the taco/squid love-in, all whilst the strangest ‘royalty-free’ background images push you along.

Yep, Taco Tom 2 is weird, but we think we’re going to love it. And we think you might just do too, especially as alongside the story-beats is a Practice mode, Speedrun opportunities, Endurance and Wacky modes and an Arcade high-score bringer. Throw in local two-player battles and this tale of the taco may never end.

The key game features include:

  • 90 levels across 10 worlds.
  • Over 500 lines of dialogue in a compelling story filled with dead tacos, squid dating, and more!
  • Speed up and slow down time! Make the game as easy or difficult as you like!
  • Royalty-free background images in each level provide an authentic stock photo aesthetic!
  • Practice Mode lets you figure out the best path through the levels!
  • Bonus Modes including Speedrun, Endurance, and Wacky!
  • Go for the high score in Arcade Mode!
  • Two-player local multiplayer battles!

Should you be up for something mad, and either loved or hated The Pizza Delivery Boy Who Saved the World previously (because, well, this is totally different), then you should be up for taking in Taco Tom 2. Find the download you need from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5 or the Nintendo eShop for Switch.

Let us know in the comments what you think of it too.

Game Description:

Ingredients are falling, collect them to make tacos! Taco Tom is about to break up with his girlfriend Sally after a disappointing day at the amusement park, but then she mysteriously dies! Distraught but single, Tom finds interest in a squid named Sapphire. Will Tom and Sapphire start dating? Will he find out what really happened to Sally? The only way he can answer these questions is by making tacos. Tom might learn some unexpected answers about himself as well.
