Previously only confirmed for launch on PC, thanks to a new partnership between Spitfire Interactive and Daedalic Entertainment, Capes will now also be coming to console – Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

Capes is a turn-based superhero game, one that calls on the most unique of strategic calls as you look to assemble a team of heroes capable of taking back their city. This is a place that has been overrun for a couple of decades, as all evil took control. Now it’s up to you to get it back.

Capes will see you playing through a series of dark, gritty campaigns and patrols, working through story beats and uncovering side missions. Unlocking of new heroes, having them join your squad is the aim of the game, increasing their powers and skills as you go. And just to keep things interesting, the development team at Spitfire Interactive promise that every single one of those heroes will have backstories to boot.

Thanks to a new agreement between that team and those at Daedalic Entertainment, Capes will now be releasing later in 2023 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. You’ll find a Steam demo in place from today until Feb 13th 2023 too.

If you dip in, you should find Capes capable of providing the following key features…

  • Be Mighty: Play as heroic protectors of the innocent, each with unique skills and powers. Master your hero and unleash devastating ultimate abilities!
  • Assemble Your Team: Select the right team for the right mission. Combat isn’t based on random numbers, so choose wisely to win the day!
  • Level Up: Complete challenging missions and side-quests to improve your heroes with new abilities and powerful upgrades!
  • Defeat Evil: Face down vile villains and criminal corporate henchmen. Do you have what it takes to free your city from the clutches of villainy?

We’ll keep you looped as to how this one progresses, but expect to gain the opportunity to done some Capes on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC later this year.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
