It’s time to fly the flag for Warpips, the latest tactical real-time war game to explode onto the market. Do you have what it takes to organise your troops and destroy the enemy’s base?
Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, following an incredibly successful PC launch which sees the Steam page proudly displaying ‘Very Positive’ reviews, Warpips by Daedalic Entertainment is the lovechild of Command and Conquer, and Nexus Wars, seeing you play out hours of low-poly battling against AI combatants.
At its core, Warpips is a glorified tug of war, as you face off against the computer in a battle of attrition. By spawning all manner of units – infantry, missiles, helicopters, and even air strikes – the spoils go to the side that manages to destroy the opposing enemy base.
Whilst it all seems like simple stuff, and it can be at first, when you throw in unit synergies, a huge upgrade tree to work through, and randomised battles, you’ll very quickly find yourself going from master, right back down to student. Only for you to learn, upgrade and get right back to it, of course!
A fuller list of features Warpips players can enjoy includes:
- Fast streamlined combat. Focus on the big picture; no complex micromanaging. Each round lasts between 10-20 minutes. Easy to learn, hard to master.
- Randomized battles. Randomly generated battles. Different each time you play. Lots of replayability.
- Deep strategy. Choose complementary unit synergies. Infinite strategic combinations. Fully unlockable upgrade tree.
- Tight combat. Spawn infantry, vehicles, airplanes and helicopters. Call down airstrikes, missile attacks and artillery. Units take cover and respond intelligently to their situation. Everything explodes!
Want to enrol and take the computer to war-school? Make sure to pick up a copy of Warpips on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC or Switch via the Nintendo eShop. For those on the Xbox side of the battle, you can do so by heading over to the Xbox Store. Expect to pay around £17.99 or so.
At ease, soldier!
