Summertime usually brings with it beer gardens, (the occasional day of) sunshine and music festivals. The latter being the chance to forget troubles of the real-world and just exist in a several day long party. But what if you annual pilgrimage to your festival of choice turns sour when say, the uninvited undead come and crash the party? Find out how you would cope in Dead Island 2: SoLA DLC, out now for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
There are two guarantees in life: death and taxes. But, if you ask Jimmy Carr, taxes can be avoidable, so why not death too? It depends upon the type of Grim Reaper you have after you after all. Available today on Xbox and PC is Running on Magic, where this Grim Reaper is quite lackadaisical, giving you plenty of time to run away.
Recently, platforming enthusiasts have been spoiled with compilations of our childhood classics. The Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy were recently followed up with the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. This next collection may not feature a household name, but it offers four games for the price of one. Toree’s 3D Platformer Collection is out today on Xbox.
Typically notoriously bad, it’s been a minute since we had a movie tie-in videogame that released on Xbox. Therefore, I am willing to give this one a chance. It may not have the voice talents of Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart like the main film, but that won’t affect the gameplay. Find out if this is the movie tie-in that bucks the trend as DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace launches today on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series presents a bit of a no-frills approach to a remaster. Both games are presented as they originally were and are still as good as ever. They are highly replayable to those that experienced them first time around, but there is a lack of anything else included, unless you are willing to pay for it.
Sixty Words by POWGI is still a quintessential POWGI game. That is, taking an existing puzzle trope and adding a unique spin to it. But the additional paint-by-words mechanic may just be enough for those that haven’t played a POWGI game to give this one a try - if only to see what all the fuss is about.
Us Brits love an underdog; we love rooting for those that aren’t always the quickest, strongest or best in their field. We have this unique affection with average joes. This next game is all about one of those average joes and how he becomes the hero of his own story. Only his name isn’t Joe, it’s Chris. Adventures of Chris is out today on Xbox and PlayStation.
Fall Guys is unlike anything you will play. It is highly addictive, the beans are cute, but the game is incredibly intense – particularly if you manage to make it to a final round.
The moon is pretty strong; anything that can affect the tides from that far away must have some good pulling power. But exactly how strong is it? Can it dropkick a flying egg or punch a gorilla that’s on fire? Find out today in Strong Moon on Xbox.
Every so often, Ratalaika Games likes to throw a curveball our way. Typically know for their cutesy and brightly coloured ports of retro looking games, they have also given us the likes of Gutwhale and Even the Ocean. Their latest release also doesn’t fit the mould. Road of Death is out today on Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation.
Who says that horror games are just for October?! Within recent weeks there have been the likes of The Quarry, FOBIA - St Dinfna Hotel and Oxide Room 104 all offering scares. This latest release may just be the scariest of the lot though. MADiSON is out today on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and PC.
If my counting is correct, I make this the third release of Crypt of the Serpent King on Xbox. First, we had the Xbox Live Indie Games section on the Xbox 360, then the full Xbox One release and here we are on the Xbox Series X|S. Find out if time has been kind to Crypt of the Serpent King Remastered 4K Edition on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers will happily rave about the value for money we are getting from the service. But, nothing beats a physical edition. And when that physical edition is being done by the guys over at iam8bit, you know it is going to be special. That’s why, when news of a physical edition for Psychonauts 2 for Xbox and PlayStation is released, it is big news.
If there’s one thing The Quarry did it was remind people that horror can be scary any time of the year. A narrative horror at the height of summer doesn’t sound like an easy sell, but The Quarry has become one of the biggest hits of 2022. It’s mix of teen summer camp slasher and Supermassive Games pedigree of horror tropes sounds like an instant winner, and it turned out to be true.
Bereavement and grief are some of the worst things that happen to us as human beings during our lifetime. In reality, there isn’t a way to bring loved ones back to life unfortunately. In videogames however, there can be. It may involve making a deal with a shifty character known as the Keeper of Souls and travelling to a shadowy realm, but if there’s a chance, it’s got to be worth it. Hasn’t it? Eternal Hope will show you how, out today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
Klonoa may not be mentioned in the same breath as other platformer mascots such as Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and of course, Mario. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to be. Whether this is the first time you’ve heard of him, or have been a fan since the beginning, these remasters are for young and old. Collecting two titles together, the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is out today on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Inescapable: No Rules, No Rescue isn’t a bad game, it’s just that others of a similar ilk, like Danganronpa, do the social thriller visual novel concept much better.
