FaZE: From COD trickshots to a CS:GO Super Team

There may not be a better example of how social media can turn something most people at the time probably considered as useless waste of time in to a lucrative business than FaZe Clan. Their story starts in Los Angeles back in 2010 when a group of friends started to post videos of Call of Duty trick shots to YouTube, never having any intention to enter competitive gaming.

Why XBOX Failed the VR Generation

Today VR is on the cover of every magazine, and it is the topic of every techie article with headlines screaming, “VR tool transforms how we design cars,” “VR gives us a glimpse of the future of work,” “Is VR the future of fitness?”, and the big one, “Can VR become a billion-user platform?” Well, it already is a billion-dollar platform, so why not?

Popular casino games on Xbox

Online gaming is slowly taking over, with more people than ever gaming online via console, mobile, tablet or PC. The global gaming industry is projected to top $109 billion this year, creating a phenomenon that has seen millions of players globally competing against each other over the internet and building thriving online communities in the process. This astonishing growth in gaming has also spilled onto mobile, with gaming apps a staple on most mobile phones and people from all ages and walks of life enjoying gaming.

Would Rooney’s career be a better fit for FIFA 17’s Journey

EA opted to make a change to their FIFA franchise with the addition of Journey mode for FIFA 17. Gamers take on the role of Alex Hunter and his rise to prominence from the youth team all the way to the starting line-up of his Premier League outfit. Can video games lower your IQ?

While gaming in general has become much more socially acceptable, video games are still getting their fair share of critique. People who go on sites like APNET to find themselves a good online casino might turn around and point a finger at their kids playing Angry Birds. Even though the average video gamer is well past his 18th birthday, we tend to think of these games as something only children are busy with. But will video games really make a child stupid or is this just a stubborn myth that society can’t seem to get rid of?

Reinventing the Past – Why a Classic will always be a Classic

Sometimes it seems like nothing or very, very little in popular culture is ever invented any more. Updates to products, trends and style are just that – updates rather than brand new offerings. Past hits are dusted off, given a new metaphorical lick of paint, repackaged and marketed as the new all singing, all-dancing must have item of the day. But is that such a bad thing?

Top games that need to be created for the Xbox

In the past few years Xbox users have been pretty well treated with some great Xbox exclusives. It’s certainly been an enjoyable experience watching PlayStation fans salivating with envy about the way that we all got to play Rise of the Tomb Raider months before any other platform.

Breaking Down Xbox Rewards and Games With Gold

A few days back, we highlighted the latest batch of free Xbox Games With Gold (these being for the month of June) and asked the question: are they any good? As anyone who read that piece will tell you, the answer is a definite "yes," as it's hard to turn up one's nose at the chance to play Super Meat Boy, The Crew, and others for the cost of an ongoing Gold membership. OK, sure, Goat Simulator is absolute rubbish after a handful of minutes, but at least you didn't really pay for it, right? Not technically, at least. Anyway, looking back at that post made me think more about Microsoft's approach to rewarding its users and why it works so well. And part of the answer to that particular thought is quite simple, actually: rewards help to retain consumers and create a loyal following. By giving back to the consumers who fatten the company's pockets, the company is keeping those consumers happy. That, in turn, will clearly lead said consumers to continue spending money and, even better, convince others to become Team Xbox.
