Become the cooking kitty with Chef’s Tail on Xbox

PC and Nintendo Switch players have previously had the opportunity to embark on Chef’s Tail – a strange little adventure in which you take charge of a cooking kitty cat, all in order to prove yourself as the master chef of the underworld. Now it’s time for Xbox players to do the same.

Chef’s Tail on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S is available to purchase and download right now. Running a price of £9.59, anyone tempted by the premise and set up would surely be tempted. Yet that premise is a weird one. See, in Chef’s Tail you take charge of the most ferocious beast, the guardian of the underworld, one who takes no prisoners. Yep, you’re an untamed, utterly wild cat. A cooking cat.

Chef’s Tail is all about the recipes, the ingredients, the food and the cooking. And thankfully for you this cat is a dab hand at putting them together, all in hope of creating something special. There are a decent number of ideas kicking around in Chef’s Tail too, including the need to gather up a ton of plants and resources and the opportunity to go fishing – and yeah, we know you’ve probably exhausted all fishing opportunities thanks to the brilliant Moonglow Bay. From there, whipping out a meal and creating the finest dishes is very much on the cards.

Key features include:

  • GATHERING – Plants do grow in the underworld. But they are fragile in nature, requiring constant care for them to grow in this foreign environment. As a chef, you need to resurrect the trees and tend to them during the seasons of “life”, and you will have an unlimited supply of ingredients for your dishes.
  • FISHING – Some stray fish also snucks into the underworld from time to time. Which is extremely good news for you, because which real “Cat Chef” does not enjoy a bit of fishing (and subsequently sashimi) on the side?
  • COOKING – The solemn and silent spookies of the underworld wish only to feast on mortal food – the best relief from their grueling travel. Arm yourself with the cooking utensils and prepare the best dishes you can think of. Your ghastly customers are a bit reluctant to part with their coin, though. Make sure, to “woo” them properly into buying stuff. And be careful, as some of them are daring enough to steal the products of your hard labor!
  • LEARNING – Good recipes don’t grow on trees. By expanding your catalog of ingredients, you will inevitably learn more recipes to cook.

We’re not sure how all of this will play out on Xbox, but we’ll be sure to get some hands-on with Chef’s Tail and provide a review on the back of it. We’re just hoping that the issues that have affected the game on both PC through Steam and Nintendo Switch haven’t been ported over.

If you wish to check it out for yourself, Chef’s Tail is over at the Xbox Store. It’s at the Nintendo eShop and on PC through Steam too.

Game Description:

On the distant shores of a certain river weary travelers of this underworld domain, exhausted by their long journey, are going to take the next step on their journey… But before that, why not take the bite out of that tasty steaming hot apple pie, just like your nana used to make! You are a ferocious beast, a guardian of the underworld, the untamed and wild cooking cat! As the master chef of the underworld, let the traveling souls a taste of mortal food, to rejuvenate them on their long journey.
