Need a new arcade racing fix? Hotshot Racing is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC this spring.

Coming from Curve Digital, Lucky Mountain Games and Sumo Digital (they behind the brilliant Snake Pass), Hotshot Racing has today been confirmed to hit PC and console later this spring, providing gamers across multiple formats the chance to take in some stupidly fast, retro-inspired 60FPS arcade racing.

Inspired by the classic ’90s arcade racers, Hotshot Racing is a colourful arcade racer that sports colourful polygonal visuals, boost-fuelled drift gameplay and a silky smooth 60 frames per second in the game’s single-player modes – regardless of which platform you wish to play on.

Created in order to emulate and expand upon the classic ‘90s arcade racing game formula, it’ll be found on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC featuring eight different hotshot drivers to choose from (each with their own personality and multiple varied four-wheeled rides), 16 personality-filled sun-baked tracks from across the globe, and multiple game modes for players to prove their driving prowess.

“When we first played Hotshot Racing we were immediately transported to the halcyon days of our youth when we used to pop 50p coins into classic arcade racers like Virtua Racing, Crusin’ USA, SEGA Rally and others that used to punctuate seafronts across the UK” said Simon Byron, Curve Digital’s Publishing Director. “It’s fantastic to see this type of gameplay make a triumphant return and we can’t wait to see what people make of it!”

But what’s more, Hotshot Racing will also feature multiple single-player and multiplayer game modes – both online and offline where 4-player local split-screen co-op will be enjoyed. This will mean there is the traditional Grand Prix mode where challengers race on multiple tracks in multi-round championship, Time Trial mode where players complete laps as they wish to seek out the fastest lap time for the online leaderboards, Cops and Robbers mode where the criminals need to evade capture to secure a big cash bonus whereas the police need to take them down, and the Drive or Explode where players need to race to checkpoints to avoid exploding.

Sounds good eh? We’re already hyped for the launch of Hotshot Racing on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC this spring and will let you know as soon as a release date is known. In the meantime, check out the trailer below and consider wishlisting it on Steam.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
