It’s hard to believe that it’s been 5 years since Ghost Town Games and Team17 rocked the multiplayer party scene with the arrival of Overcooked! But it’s true and some half a decade after delivering some kitchen based mayhem, those behind it are still continuing to push and improve. It’s the celebrations which come to the fore today though with the free Birthday Party update for Overcooked! All You Can Eat.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat is the latest in the line of Overcooked! titles, bringing together the original game with Overcooked! 2, before remastering everything and throwing in all the DLC you could ever want in the process.

It’s All You Can Eat which pretty much defines the series to a tee, and hot on the heels of its recent release in months gone by, the new Birthday Party update continues to ensure the games grows.

It’s here, with the update, that Team17 and Ghost Town Games are dropping in 5 brand new birthday party themed stages, a new receipe which will allow you to make a cup of tea, a new Switcheroo mechanic which will seeplaying cards transport players across the kitchen, AND a new Tabby Cat chef who rocks up for good measure.

This all comes about for free for anyone who has a copy of Overcooked! All You Can Eat on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. It’s also present on PC, and further to that if you haven’t yet played the game you’ll find a free taster on Steam available between 9th-11th August.

You’ll want to get involved too as All You Can Eat is certainly no slouch in the content kitchen. It comes with more than 200 levels, tons of kitchens, plenty of chefs and up to 4K and 60fps visuals. And thanks to the base mechanics of the game, we still reckon Overcooked! is as good as any multiplayer party title out there.

Phil Duncan, co-founder, Ghost Town Games said: “Five years on, still the most rewarding aspect of working on Overcooked! is getting to see and hear the reaction from players around the world. Seeing the fan art, the music covers, the cosplay and even the occasional tattoo is something I’ll never get used to. Hearing stories about players bonding with friends and loved-ones over their time spent playing the game together is something we’re humbled to have played a part in.”

Oli De-Vine, co-founder, Ghost Town Games said: “Wow, it’s been five years! Well first I have to acknowledge the amazing folks at Team17, without whom we wouldn’t be at this point at all. It’s been an amazing journey together with so many developers working tirelessly to make the game what it is today, which is something we frankly couldn’t have made any other way. Also, multiplayer games are only what they are because of community, and the community on this game is just amazing. Maybe it’s a virtue of being a game about cooperation and communication, but we’re really happy the game has found such a kind audience who are always so supportive and welcoming of the things we make, and who come and play together from all over the world. It’s been great, thank you all very much.”

If you haven’t yet got a copy of the game, head to the store of your choosing. The Xbox Store is our favourite. Kevin and the Onion King await!
