Prepare to embark upon a fight for survival, with the first-person action RPG Crimson Keep, out now on Xbox One, tasking you to explore, scavenge and face off against countless beasts and horrors that lurk within. Can you escape this terrible place, or are you destined to fail time and time again in this rogue-like experience?
When a curse decimates the village of Larkstead and you’re banished to live out your remaining days in the dungeons, the only hope lies in the mysterious Crimson Keep. The sunken remains of an ancient castle are where a great power lies; one that could be the key to escaping the ever-changing labyrinth ahead. Every drop of XP, each piece of loot and any damage you take from enemies and traps could impact on whether you survive or succumb to the Keep’s dark power – chances are that it will quite often be the latter.
There are three character classes to choose from – Berserker, Witch and Drifter – and as these are levelled up, new abilities will unlock to aid in overcoming the combat situations. In terms of weapons, you’ll have access to a wide range of them, each of which comes with different speeds, damage arcs and ranges to suit your playstyle.
Crimson Keep certainly looks to provide a challenge with perma-death, cursed items, hunger and deities, so be ready to die and lose everything when exploring its procedurally generated dungeon layouts. On the plus side though, if you manage to complete an area, you’ll begin from its start point when you have to respawn.
Should the combination of RPG progression, rogue-like gameplay and first-person action sound like something that’d be fun for you, Crimson Keep is out now on Xbox One.
