In one of the hottest summers in recent memory, Myriad Games’ narrative indie game is here to remind us of a time that was less scorching. Are you ready to discover a place Where the Snow Settles?

Where the Snow Settles is available on Xbox and Steam for £8.79.

Where the Snow Settles is a short, narrative adventure following a girl named Aurelia as she journeys to find her way home. She needs to brave the cold winds and the snowy storms to make her way back, pushing back against the unknown.

Aurelia’s journey is introspective, quiet and sensitive as she wonders through the snowy wastelands. There’s also a tinge of the supernatural scatted throughout the game too as Aurelia finds and journeys with magical sprites.

Despite being alone and lost in the snowy wilderness, Where the Snow Settles sells itself on how it can be such a relaxing experience. The game has no violence and features low-demand gameplay. The interactivity comes from moving through the game’s magical, natural world, listening to character’s stories and experiencing this journey’s narrative.

Key features include:

  • Embrace your curiosity and interact with the world around you to uncover its mysteries
  • A concise and linear narrative, designed for easy escapism
  • Dialogue allows you to listen and connect with characters in the world
  • Evocative and beautiful art style
  • Sits at the intersection of games/cinema/narrative
  • Explore a hand-crafted world
  • Non-violent, low-demand gameplay
  • Beautiful soundtrack that will make your heart swell
  • Relax at home and enjoy a coming-of-age story that’s suitable for audiences of all ages

This coming of age story is fit for players of all skill levels and ages with its undemanding gameplay, relaxing atmosphere and heartfelt story. This summer is already full of wonderful looking indie games including titles that we already love like Alba: A Wildlife Adventure and Death’s Door. We reckon Where the Snow Settles could well be added to that list.

You’ll find Where the Snow Settles playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Game Description:

As the world around her crumbles, Aurelia searches for a way home, unraveling mysteries and wonder along the way. This short narrative experience masterfully blends contrasting themes to create a compelling and atmospheric coming of age story. Gentle and undemanding game mechanics allow for escapism into a beautiful and desolate world, filled with secrets. Navigate and explore a cold and uncertain world Follow Aurelia’s introspective journey across a changing environment, where she must work to navigate the encroaching cold and venture into the unknown. Walk, run, and slide your way through tricky terrain, and interact with the world to learn more about the characters that inhabit it. Listen and learn from others With the help of her sister and enigmatic spirits befriended throughout her journey, Aurelia soon learns why the world is collapsing around her, and why she must find her strength before it’s too late. Talk to characters, listen to their stories, and find your way through an uncertain world. With a story that emphasises the importance of empathy and compassion in a world that feels lost and uncertain, we can rely on the help and guidance of others to make it through. This debut from Myriad Games Studio is a moving narrative adventure arriving on Steam in early 2021.

My earliest gaming memories come from playing Pokemon Crystal on the Game Boy, Kingdom Hearts on the PS2 and most importantly Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. I've pretty much played video games everyday since and still get excited about what's to come.
