With Microsoft’s pending acquisition of Bethesda Softworks, the future of the latter’s IPs remains in limbo. Will new entries to games like Doom, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls come out exclusively on the Series X|S and PC? Only time will tell, but for now, it seems rather likely. In the meantime, players on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Stadia can purchase and download The Ancient Gods – Part One of the highly-anticipated DLC for Doom Eternal.

Doom Slayer is back to kick some more demonic ass. The Ancient Gods Part One DLC unites Doom Slayer with an old ally, Vega. Joining forces, they must stop the demonic powers threatening heaven itself. The Ancient Gods features new environments and deadly weapons, as well as new enemies and gargantuan bosses for you to test your mettle on.

Doom Eternal released earlier this year and we gave it our highest possible accolade: a shiny 5/5. We loved the games action-packed combat, the variety of demons and the galore of different unlockables. Moreover, the recent partnership with Bethesda made this gem-of-an-FPS available to anyone with the Xbox Game Pass. Since its reboot in 2016, the Doom series is on a positive streak and The Ancient Gods Part One DLC is unlikely to disappoint.

Features include:

  • NEW MISSION – Experience a new mission in your eternal fight against evil. Unleash your vengeance and face your greatest test; restore order to the heavens and unearth the corruption that has thrown the universe into chaos.
  • NEW LOCATIONS – From the decks of the UAC Atlantica on Earth to the Blood Swamps of Hell to the demon-infested Urdak, you will visit epic new locations to battle the armies of Hell.
  • NEW ENEMIES – Change your tactics as you face Hell’s newest threats that add more depth and challenge to combat. Face the demon buffing Spirit and the deadly Blood Maykr.

Better yet, The Ancient Gods Part One is a standalone DLC, meaning you don’t even need to own Doom Eternal to enjoy it. It’s the first DLC instalment for Doom Eternal, with Part Two likely to release early next year. Owners of the Year One Pass (ÂŁ24.99) can head to the Xbox Store to download Part One free-of-charge. Everyone else will have to fork over ÂŁ15.99, which sounds like a fairly reasonable asking price to extend one of the best gaming experiences of 2020.

Feast your eyes upon the Official Trailer down below and let us know if you’re delving into The Ancient Gods Part One DLC firsthand. And, as always, sit tight for our upcoming review of this newly-released package.

DLC Description:

The Ancient Gods – Part One is the first campaign expansion for the critically acclaimed DOOM Eternal. Your war is not over… The legions of Hell have razed the heavens, threatening to expand across dimensions. Battle your way back to Urdak and decide the fate of the cosmos. Your mission is now your own.
