Hard to believe but there was a game that released for the Dreamcast in 2021, and it was rather well received too. Intrepid Izzy was the name, but it has just jumped over to *ahem* more modern consoles too, thanks to the port kings at Ratalaika Games. Intrepid Izzy is out today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign and a well-received launch on the SEGA Dreamcast, Intrepid Izzy arrives on Xbox with a lot of potential.
Intrepid Izzy is a 2D side-scrolling adventure with retro gameplay and modern visuals. As Izzy you will explore vast levels with their own unique personalities and mechanics. On your journey you will collect new costumes that not only do they change Izzy’s appearance, each one has its own ability to help traverse these lands.
Intrepid Izzy also features:
- Platform action and beat-em-up gameplay
- Modern graphics with retro game inspiration
- Diverse levels
- Fun and exciting story
- Soundtrack by Ben Kurotoshiro
Add to that huge bosses, branching dialogue, simple controller input using only four buttons, talking animals, robots and spaceships, and you have a pretty exciting prospect. Our review will have the definitive answers coming very soon.
Intrepid Izzy is on the Xbox Store now priced at £9.99. This may seem unusually high for a Ratalaika Games title, but there is a discount dropping the price down to £7.99 for a limited time if you are quick. Let us know if you will be picking this one up.
