If you’re done with Assassin’s Creed Origins and need a reason to head back to Egypt, then Immortal Redneck may just be the game for you.
Indie developers Crema have today confirmed that Immortal Redneck will be blasting its way to Xbox One and PS4 (with PS4 Pro enhancements) come Feb 27th 2018. A Nintendo Switch version will follow shortly after in Q1 2018.
After wrecking his dune buggy in Egypt, our titular Redneck wakes up mummified – and it is up to you to help him find out why by helping him shoot his way through the evil armies overrunning the Pyramids of Giza, in first person shooting style.
Expect to find permadeath, procedural generation and a healthy arsenal of weapons at your disposal, with more than 50 weapons available, ranging from Taser Swords and Electric Flamethrowers, and nine blessings from Gods. There is little chance that any two runs will be the same.
Blasting, strafing and bunny hopping in style, you’ll need to uncover the secrets of the pyramids through the standard mode, or try to best your PBs in the Infinite Tower mode, where endless floors, and even more enemies, await. Thankfully that thing called death isn’t an issue in Immortal Redneck, because with the power of resurrection, gold earned in one life can be used to unlock permanent upgrades from a persistent skill tree, such as health and damage bonuses, or new favors from the gods.
With nine favours to enable, you’ll find that Redneck will start with various weapons and abilities. Seth, the God of Storms, begins with a Taser Sword, Tesla Coil, and Electric Flamethrower, which allow him to throw electric balls as his active ability. Neith, the Goddess of Hunting, can send a falcon to attack her enemies while also using a Sniper Rifle and Tranquilizer Gun.
Each attempt is further shaken up by over 100 Scroll Modifiers that enemies drop that can help or harm in various degrees. You might just find a Metamorphosis Scroll with a chance to turn opponents into chickens, or the Sorry, Not Sorry scroll that swaps out all weapons for random new ones.
“Immortal Redneck has been a wonderful success on Steam and we look forward to bringing the fun to consoles,” said Guillermo Andrades, Co-Founder, Crema. “Look out for our fusion of classic FPS and roguelike when it hits PS4 and Xbox next February, with the Nintendo Switch port following closely behind.”
Immortal Redneck will be hitting Xbox One and PS4 on Feb 27th 2018 in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Polish, and Korean for $19.99 USD, €19.99, £16.24.
Don’t miss it!
