A romantic visual novel set in 19th century France, featuring a male crossdresser in an all-girls’ school *checks list* wasn’t amongst our 2023 predictions for games coming out this year. But here we are. The premise of Ratalaika Games and ebi-hime’s Embraced By Autumn on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch is certainly an interesting one. Colour us intrigued.
Back to School
Now available on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, Embraced By Autumn’s premise is thus: the son of famous actor Georges de Saint-Rémy, Marcel hasn’t had the greatest time at school, owing mostly to his father’s seedy reputation for sleeping around. Ruthless bullying at his Parisian school cannot be tolerated by Marcel any longer, so he decides to leave his old life behind. Upon entering the gates at a rural all-girls’ boarding school, Marcel decides to integrate himself with a group of four girls, who quickly become his best friends.
Fearful of being found out in the school (and reluctant of the whole ‘dress up as a girl’ schtick), Marcel hopes that you can guide him through this radical new chapter of his life.
But who will he end up closest with? That’s for you to decide!
Multiple Love Interests
In this text-based narrative adventure, your decisions will dictate how Marcel’s life plays out.
Who will he fall for? Is it the humble Luce, fiery Claudine, musician Celine, or perhaps foolish Mirabel.
As with any visual novel, the options are sparse, and there is always the opportunity for a happy ending!

Embraced by Autumn on Xbox Game Description
Marcel is bullied relentlessly by the boys at his fancyParisian school, who all seem determined to make his life miserable.
Fearful for her son’s welfare, Marcel’s mother sends him to a school in Myennes, which is deep in the French countryside. The catch, however, is that this is an all-girls’ boarding school! Now, Marcel has to act and dress like a girl to avoid rousing his new classmates’ suspicions.
Marcel expects the worst, so he’s surprised to discover that his new classmates all seem to be fond of him.
Marcel meets four girls who express an interest in him: the quiet, inscrutable Luce; the fiery troublemaker, Claudine; the elegant pianist, Celine; and the class dunce, Mirabel.
Which girl will he develop the strongest bond with?
