It may be that time of year but we’ve had a host of ‘family & kids’ games popping up onto console stores in recent weeks. It makes sense – we’re coming into the holiday season and the kids are needing stuff to throw on their lists to Santa. My Fantastic Ranch is sure to be one that is considered for those lists, if only as it promises to whisk players off to a world full of unicorns and dragons.

My Fantastic Ranch comes about via a collaboration between the developers at Piece of Cake (a French studio) and that of Nacon – they behind a whole host of games and accessories.

It releases onto the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC stores and should have enough about it to tempt in, at least, the younger members of the family. That’s not to say it won’t have enough about it for those older more grizzled gaming veterans either though.

Priced at £34.99 from the Xbox Store (expect other stores to be around and about that price), My Fantastic Ranch does what you would expect of a game with such a title – it lets you go about creating your very own dream ranch.

It’s a game that includes twenty-four buildings and decorative items, ensuring you get the opportunity to build things out to your own specifications. But in our eyes it gets better by throwing in eight types of unicorns and dragons too – we mean, who doesn’t want unicorns or dragons in their dream ranch?

With a couple of game modes ensuring this caters for all – older gamers may wish to run Normal mode and complete the missions within, whilst the younger lot might well prefer to build freely in Dreamer mode – alongside a super vibrant visual look, there should be much to love about My Fantastic Ranch.

Of course, it’s not just about building and letting things take care of themselves. You’ll need to be on hand throughout, looking after those unicorns and dragons, working with their unique temperaments and more. Why? Well, there is actually an overall goal included in My Fantastic Ranch – to become the best trainer the kingdom has ever seen.

Key game features include:

  • Take care of your fantastic creatures: Build the facilities you need to take care of your unicorns and dragons. Take care of their everyday well-being and ensure they have an environment where they can thrive. Hire staff to feed and look after them. Remember: they sometimes need to rest, otherwise they are prone to silliness.
  • Give fun lessons: Kids will come to your ranch to take lessons with your animals. Build an arena for students to practise riding their favourite dragon or unicorn, a hoop course for practising aerobatics and flying, and much more.
  • Become the most famous ranch in the kingdom: Earn gems to upgrade your buildings, decorate your ranch and adopt more magical creatures. The more your ranch’s reputation grows, the more students will want to enrol in lessons and enter tournaments. Pair riders with their favourite magical steed to create the best duos, and impress the Prince and Princess of the kingdom during festivals.
  • A colourful and fun game for all ages: My Fantastic Ranch is an easy-to-play game with a unique design. It is perfect as an introduction to management simulation games and for being immersed in a fantasy world filled with the most adorable creatures.

We’ll let you know how that all plays out once we review My Fantastic Ranch on Xbox Series X|S. In the meantime, you can grab a copy of the game for yourself on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S (this is fully optimised for new-gen) by visiting the Xbox Store. Find it on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC too.

Game Description:
