Remember how E-Line Media delivered a gaming experience with an educational twist with the launch of Never Alone a few years ago? Well, that team are back with the same ideas – it’s just that this time we get given the opportunity to head under the waves and marvel at the magic of the ocean with Beyond Blue on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

E-Line Media combine gaming experiences with the need to educate, and whilst it is never forced in your face, integrating insightful videos into their games allows for all on Xbox One, PS4 and PC to start understanding more about what, and why, they are playing. Available to purchase and download right now, Beyond Blue is the latest tale to get that treatment, dropping us in to the diving suit of an ocean explorer who is dedicated to scanning and cataloguing the wonderful creatures found in our oceans.

Priced at £16.74, Beyond Blue gives you the opportunity to work with this researcher – Mirai – swimming around a number of areas, stumbling upon some of the biggest and smallest underwater creatures the world has known – sharks, whales, octopuses, fish, and more are all present here. From there, with the use of your trusty scanner, you’ll be able to document your findings, allowing for greater insight and depth to your marine knowledge.

With an intriguing story kicking around in the background, plenty of animals to scan, and the opportunity to begin to understand more about life beneath the waves, Beyond Blue on Xbox One, PS4 and PC is a certainty to get your interest flowing. Even more so due to the fact that multiple Ocean Insights videos see E-Line partner up with some of the biggest filmmakers, oceanographers, and experts from the marine world.

Features include:

  • An evocative narrative with full voice cast – Anna Akana (YouTube), Mira Furlan (Lost, Babylon 5), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails, Hotel Rwanda), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4)
  • Challenging adventure and exploration within an untouched world
  • A captivating and entertaining soundtrack featuring an original score and music from Miles Davis, The Flaming Lips, The Edisons, and more
  • Sixteen unique mini-documentaries called Ocean Insights that feature original footage and interviews with science’s leading ocean experts

Our full review of Beyond Blue on Xbox One is up, live, and ready for your perusal. Make sure you check it out right now, and once you are sold on the premise would do well to visit your favoured digital store in order to grab a download. You’ll find Beyond Blue available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC (via Steam) as we type, but it’ll also be hitting Nintendo Switch later down the line.

Let us know if you decide to pick it up.
