There’s huge anticipation for F1 2021, not only as it follows the brilliant F1 2020 from last time out, but because the might of EA will be in place, guiding Codemasters to new levels. It’s already looking likely to be an awesome F1 experience but today the hype builds even more as the F1 2021 cover stars and seven of the most iconic My Team drivers are revealed.
F1 2021 will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam later in 2021, and taking pride of place on the cover will be three of the finest drivers the F1 world has ever seen. Obviously it goes without saying that one of the greatest of all time – and to many, THE greatest of all time – Lewis Hamilton will be in place, bringing with it his seven world championships and best part of 100 race wins with it.
Alongside Lewis will be the Dutch mega-star, and the driver that many see dominating the sport once Hamilton decides to call time. The orange army of Max Verstappen will no doubt be massively excited to see him front and centre.

But there’a third driver adorning the front page of F1 2021 and that is the upcoming Ferrari superstar – Charles Leclerc. We guess it’s only a matter of time before the Tifosi get to see the red cars challenging at the very front of the grid again, and it’s likely that Leclerc will be the one to lead the charge of the prancing horse. It’s only fitting then that he finds a spot on the front cover.
It’s not just about who is showing their face though and in F1 2021 players will also get the chance to enjoy a brand new story mode, an expanded Career and a new two-player option. But there will also be My Team present.
This will be where you, as the player, look to bring together the best talents in one, with a carefully crafted three-tierred roster in place. There will be a host of drivers present in here, but it’s likely to be the Icons which are most sought after. Codies and EA have given a little insight into what we can expect here, with the first seven detailed. F1 fans will be pleased to see another GOAT available, with Michael Schumacher in place, but we also see The Professor back on the F1 grid after retirement a few decades back, we have Britain’s Jensen Button and David Coulthard each take a spot, along with another former champ and a guy who oh so nearly found success in his native Brazil back in 2008. You’ll find these guys present as part of the F1 2021 Deluxe Edition for ÂŁ74.99.

In all, the F1 2021 icons include:
- Michael Schumacher (94) – 91 wins in 308 races, and seven-time World Champion
- Ayrton Senna (94) – 41 wins, 65 pole positions, and three World Championships
- Alain Prost (93) – 51 wins, 41 fastest laps, and four World Championships
- Jenson Button (90) – Won the 2009 World Championship in Brawn GP team’s first season
- Nico Rosberg (89) – Won nine of 21 races during his 2016 Championship winning season
- David Coulthard (87) – Won 13 races,62 podium finishes, and runner-up in 2001
- Felipe Massa (86) – 11 victories, 41 podiums and runner-up in the 2008 season
With the current real-world F1 season looking like it’s going to be the tightest fought battle for some time, with two of the new cover stars going at it with each and every race, the video game version of the game is going to need something special about it to live up the hype. Chances are Codemasters and EA are going to provide that when the game launches come July 16th 2021 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
