farming simulator 19 precision farming

It’s quite impressive to see Farming Simulator 19 still getting new content two years after release. The most recent Alpine Farming Expansion actually brought a whole new environment to the experience. And while the latest addition isn’t quite as big, the Precision Farming is free and promotes eco-friendliness on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The Precision Farming DLC for Farming Simulator 19 is part of the ‘Precision Farming Project’ funded by EIT Food, Europe’s leading Food Innovation Initiative. Developers GIANTS Software have ensured the DLC features new gameplay elements, like “smart farming” technology, to be more eco-friendly. Set into motion by acclaimed agricultural machine manufacturer John Deere, the project is ongoing for two years and involves a variety of collaborating partners of the European Union, including two universities involved in the concept and continuous testing of the gameplay features.

As a result, your virtual farms are about to get much more efficient. You’ll be able to optimise your yield by taking soil samples using the John Deere Gator and the ISARIA SCOUT in order to identify four different soil types with individual requirements – loamy sand, sandy loam, loam and silty clay. Allowing you to take pH values and nitrogen content in the soil into account. Dynamic application rates based on soil properties lead to saving resources like seeds, fertiliser, fuel, maintenance cost and more. Obviously that means you can save money while operating a more environmentally-friendly setup.

The goal of the Precision Farming Project itself is related to the fact that public knowledge about farming is in decline. Nowadays, the link between society living in big metropolitan areas and modern agricultural technology has almost severed. Modern precision farming technologies are introduced in the Farming Simulator as one of EITs multiple efforts to raise awareness for sustainable farming to a wider audience.

How do you acquire this free content? Well, all you need to do to ensure your Farming Simulator 19 experience gets more eco-friendly is download the Precision Farming DLC via the in-game ModHub. It won’t cost you anything, so you might as well grab it!
