Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges Guide Series 14 – Summer

-

A new season, a new direction again for Forza Horizon 5 as the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 14 – Summer play out. This time, fresh from the celebration of their 10 year anniversary that was found throughout Series 13, FH5 has teamed up with something called “Donut Media”.

This is not, as I was hoping, a long awaited baking spin off for the series, but instead has introduced a new story to the Festival. Turning to Wikipedia for help, Donut Media is “ an American automotive content brand, known primarily for its eponymous YouTube channel and online merchandise store”. Still, there’s plenty more stuff to worry about this week, so let’s see if we can shed some light on what is to come.

Part 1: #Forzathon Weekly Challenge – Up To Speed

Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you? Right here in the weekly challenge, that’s where!

Yes, we have to take a 2004 Impreza Sti, in blue, naturally, and do stuff in it. You don’t seem to able to win it this week, so I guess, should you not have the car, a trip to the Autoshow and the handing over of 28,000 credits will see you right.

Chapter 1 – World Rally Experimental

Pin the throttle in your Scooby. Job one done.

Chapter 2 – Bourne to Win

We have to celebrate someone by the unlikely name of Possum Bourne winning a rally in New Zealand by winning a Dirt Race in our Subaru. No worries, mate!

Stock trim will be fine for this.

Chapter 3 – Gold and Blue

Take a photo of the car.

I’m not gonna say that Horizon is dumbing down, but with this step and the other week where we had to beep the horn, I miss the old days.

Chapter 4 – It’s Turbo Time

Win three stars at Trail Blazers in the Subaru. Picking one of the shorter ones, like Malpais on the main highway, will make this easier. And with that, we are free to crack on with the rest of the events found in Series 14 – Summer!

Part 2 – Weekly Challenges

Some racing, some PR stunts, a dollop of Event lab – Who could ask for more?

While it does seem like slim pickings this week, at least we can tune things up for The Trial, so that’s a bonus. Let’s rock, amigos!

The Trial – Bumper 2 Bumper

With no mention of dancing in the disco, and since I know where my jumper is (obscure music reference alert!), we’ll crack on with this event.

As you know by now, unless you have been living under a Mexican rock, The Trial requires us to grasp the nettle of finding teammates from the internet, who know the difference between the good guys (ie us) and the bad guys (the unbeatable Driverbots, helpfully labelled in red on the screen). Top tip: Smashing a blue guy into a wall doesn’t help the team to win. Smashing a red guy, well, rubbing is racing, right?

Anyhoo, the restriction with The Trial this week is A Class 800. That’s all, so go nuts!

As it is an on road event, I went for something with a bit of presence, the MB #24 Racing truck Forza Edition, and my share code is: 117572081.

We can win a Lambo Aventador for triumphing, so cross those fingers and hope you get a good team.

Eventlab – TURBOTOTORO Presents – YoDawg, I Heard U Like Dirt #1L

Stupid title aside, this Eventlab does have a tad of promise, being a one lap dirt race in an A Class SUV hero vehicle.

I went with a stock Lamborighini Urus, and as there is no competition it seems silly to tune a car, doesn’t it? Be aware that certain checkpoints are really narrow for some reason, so be careful as you go round.

Our Prize? A Builders Outfit. It’s like socks for Christmas all over again…

PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Eagles Perch

“Can you fly, Bobby?”. Well, if not, you’d better learn!

We have to jump 430m off this Danger Sign, in any vehicle of S2 Class 998. Obviously, the answer to an S2 question is always the Koenigsegg Agera, and the share code for mine is: 109282883.

Getting a good run up will see you soaring. Hitting the ramp at better than 240mph saw me do it, but you need to aim left or you’ll end your jump in the side of a pyramid. Never a good idea – you know how long it took to build those things?

A Super Wheelspin for your trouble, why not?

PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Paso Inferior

On paper at least, this is a lot easier than the jump.

We have to take the same class of car, S2 998, and blast past the camera at 160mph or better. With the speeds we get in the Hot Wheels expansion, this seems like walking pace!

Again, the Agera came out with the same share code. The off road surface made this a lot more of a challenge, but ignoring the road and approaching across country in a straight line saw me do it.

Another Super Wheelspin is yours.

Seasonal Championship – Boost Creeps

Take a retro Sports Car, to a maximum of B Class 700, and go racing in it. And not just any racing, but street racing. So, obviously, I chose a Skyline, the R32 GT-R from 1993 to be precise, and my share code is: 135285831.

Winning the championship, or best two out of three in a convoy, will net you a Dodge Demon. Nice.

Seasonal Championship – Wheelhouse

We need a van or utility vehicle for this, tuned to a maximum of C Class 600.

It’s not going to be a quick race, is it? Well, there’s only one choice when it comes to vans, and that is the GMC Vandura, better known to people of my generation as the A-Team van. My tune share code is: 734285428.

Again, winning will get us a car, this time the AMG C63. Which is a bit of an upgrade from a tatty old van.

Seasonal Championship – Buff Horses

This championship name is pretty bang on, as we have to use a Ford Mustang, tuned to S1 Class 900. That counts as buff, no?

I went with a Shelby GT500 from 2020, which is a mighty fine looking car, and the share code is: 335181307.

Winning this championship gets us another horse, a prancing one this time, in the shape of a Ferrari 488 GTB.

Part 3 – Other Challenges

A Treasure Hunt and a photo challenge, along with a bit of Open Drifting to enjoy. Let’s check it out!

Photo Challenge – #POPUPHEADLIGHTS

Everybody loves a pop up headlight, right? Well, to prove the point, we have to take a Mitsubishi Starion (rumoured to be called that because of a misheard name, it was supposed to be called the Stallion) and take a photo at the Hotel Castillo.

I’ll include the fruits of effort and the location below. You will score a Forzalink phrase, “POP-UP!” for your trouble.

Treasure Hunt – The New Car Show

The clue this week reads “The modern 20’s are the ultimate time for doughnuts”. What could this mean? The picture shows a Formula Drift GR Supra from 2020, so I’m going to assume this car, and doughnuts? Aside from the obvious Homer link, I’m guessing drifting will be involved. And what do you know, simply donut the car for a moment and the clue is solved.

I’ll post a picture of the chest location to help out. It contains 100 FP which is nice!

Open Horizon – Drifting and Doughnuts

Get your drift on in an Open Drifting event, and simply earn 20 drift or E-drift skills to complete this challenge. I can’t really recommend a tune for this, as it could be any event, but if it is S1 Class, any of the Formula Drift cars will be great, and for A Class, the Hoonigan Twerkstallion is a good choice.

What do you want to win? How about the Formula Drift #777 Corvette? Sorted.

Part 4 – Hot Wheels Events

Off to the Hot Wheels Park for the next two events, as long as you have reached the Elite rank in the expansion. And both can be completed with the same car I talked about earlier, which is nice.

TheXboxHub, saving you virtual Forza money since 2022!

Speed Zone – Forest  Flume

A Speed Zone, an S2 Class 998 car, and an average speed of a mere 190mph. Step forward the Koenigsegg Agera again please, share code is still: 109282883. Mind the sides, take a decent run up and this is a piece of cake.

Another Super Wheelspin is up for grabs.

Seasonal Championship – Joy of Cars

The Joy of Cars, eh? Well, for me, a great part of the joy of Forza is driving all the different cars. Having said that, I’m going to trot out the same Agera as for the Speed Zone challenge, mainly because it always wins.

You know by now, but winning the championship or best two out of three races in a convoy will get you a prize, a BMW Isetta no less.

So what else is there?

Well, as Series 14 is kicking off and the Donut Media stuff is at the fore, there’s a new Horizon Story to enjoy. You don’t need to complete that right now – you’ve got the entire Series to cover it – but it will give you 12pts towards your reward card.

Further, there are two new Monthly Rivals events, each holding 4pts. All you need to do is nail a clean lap (and beat a Rival whilst you’re doing it) around Horizon Mexico Circuit for the EV challenge and the Plays Azul Circuit too.

And what do points make? In the Weekly Challenges they make new cars. Serirs 14 as a whole has the SF90 Stradale sitting behind 80pts and the Alpine A110 ’17 under 160pts. There are also Summer specific vehicles to grab too – No. 100 Lynk&Co 03 for 20pts and the Ascari KZ1R for 40pts. Following our guide will see you earning those with ease.

Next up in Forza Horizon 5 will be Series 14 – Autumn and so we’ll be back with some new cars and tunes next week, helping you gather up the dinky little Morris Traveller and the Ferrari 599 GTO.

If you’re unsure as to what you need to do in these challenges, your first port of call will be to get a copy of Forza Horizon 5 in your digital library. It’s available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, all through the Xbox Store. And of course, if you don’t want to open the wallet, you can use the Game Pass service to get free access.

As with anything, we’d love to hear what you think of this article, of Forza Horizon 5 and of the Challenges in general. Drop into the comments or hit us up on the socials – we’re always around for a chat.
