Go Loopy with Overloop

If you have a slightly warped sense of humour and don’t mind having to make dubious ethical choices, then you’ll be delighted to hear Overloop is available right now.

It’s available for download and play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (Optimised), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

Created by Charge Games, Overloop made its debut on PC last year. It currently has a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam, so it looks like it could be worth a download if you are partial to some puzzle-platforming fun that isn’t too demanding.

Overloop is set in a dark future world where scientists have invented the Quantum Matter Replication Device and sold it to the masses. Unfortunately, being able to buy a high tech cloning gun as easily as your weekly supermarket shop has led to disastrous consequences. It’s up you, a man with a small moustache but a big heart, to sort out this dystopic world and save the whole of civilization.

How on Earth are you going to sort out this gigantic mess all alone? Good news – you have your trusty cloning gun that you can use to make clones of yourself. Use your copies any way you want – you can sacrifice them to get past obstacles and use them to help you solve puzzles or just kill them in all manner of icky ways if you wish. They don’t matter do they? You can always make more.

Watch the Overloop trailer:

Key Features

  • Create clones! Make endless copies of yourself with the cloning gun and use your perfectly formed doppelgangers – up to four at once – to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles
  • Sacrifice clones! Dystopias are very dangerous places, and many clones will suffer hilariously gruesome deaths along the way. Fried! Crushed! Mangled! Minced! RIP clones 🙁
  • Explore a world of weirdness! From suspiciously friendly AI and cultish crackpots, to modified corn and cloned panda bears. This freaky future has (almost) everything!
  • Think about ethics! Is it better that a clone should die, rather than the real you? Consider the morality of human cloning as you condemn countless versions of yourself to death
  • Have a mustache! Play as a hero with sweet facial hair. Purely cosmetic. Totally badass

You can go about buying and downloading Overloop at the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store or Nintendo eShop for £12.49. If you snap it up now, you will get 20% off, taking the price down to £9.99. But be quick, this discount only lasts for 14 days after release.

Game description:

Step into an ethically compromised future where cloning technology has wreaked havoc on humanity – and it’s sort of all YOUR fault! As an employee of nefarious megacorp, Infinity Inc., and the inventor of its Quantic Matter Replication Device (aka the QMRD, aka the cause of the world going to hell in a handbasket), it’s up to you to sort out the mess you helped create. Grab your cloning gun and hot-foot it through a world descending into clone-induced chaos. Create clones of yourself and use them to solve puzzles and save humanity. Get to it genius!
