“Hand-drawn” evokes memories of cute cartoon characters with big wide eyes that wouldn’t harm anyone. Soli, the protagonist, is certainly cute. But the gameplay will challenge you deeply and make you rethink how cute anything hand-drawn can be. Find out just how challenging today as Unbound: Worlds Apart is out now on Xbox.
Soli has the ability to bring these worlds together by opening portals and utilising those worlds properties for their benefit. Some worlds feature inverse gravity allowing them to fly for example. Others may have a different rate of time, making those tiny windows of opportunity that little bit longer. Or even shorter.
Part of the challenge in Unbound: Worlds Apart comes from knowing which portal to open. If that wasn’t enough, twitch reflexes will be required for this tricky puzzle platformer.
Then of course, there are the enemies to contend with. Soli is a gifted mage – looking not too dissimilar to Vivi from Final Fantasy IX – but they are on the short side. Many enemies they will face will be much larger, with mouths that could easily swallow them whole.
Unbound: Worlds Apart will be a hostile world at first. But Soli isn’t alone. They can speak to the various other residents and learn crucial pieces of backstory as to how and why these worlds and connected.
