It may be Valentine’s Day, but the date you need to worry about is that with death – at least, it will be if you take on the brutality of Infernax.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, Infernax from the Berzerk Studios team is a proper homage to the old-skool NES action from yesteryear.

Sold as a 2D splatterfest, paying up the £16.74 asking price – or making the most of Game Pass should you wish as we’re expecting this to drop into the scheme very soon – will see you taking on the adventures ahead, readying yourself to be totally splattered with the claret of blood.

Helped along by the publishing team of The Arcade Crew, if you’re in the market for an 8-bit inspired adventure in which demon-slaying, boss battling and blood spilling is real, Infernax is going to be for you. Following the life of a famed knight – Alcedor – in Infernax you fast discover that an unholy magic has started to spread across the land. It’s up to you to stop it, helped along by your trusty mace and shield combo.

Working as a side-scrolling adventure full of quests, Infernax will have you and Alcedor picking up both experience and vital gold as he goes, helping level things up, raising the stats and ensuring that you have the skills and weapons required for the task ahead.

You should well expect a bit of a brutal challenge with Infernax, if only as the inspiration comes from when gaming was as hard as it ever has been. Should you be in the market though, you’ll want to get yourself over to the digital store of your choosing and ensure a download starts moving as soon as possible.

For us Xbox players, it’s the Xbox Store which is the keyholder, letting Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players get involved. You’ll also find Infernax on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam.  Stay tuned for a full review from us soon.

Game Description:

Infernax is the adventures of a great knight who returns to his homeland only to find it plagued with unholy magic. While on your quest to find and destroy the source of this corruption by any means necessary, you will face ruthless creatures, dangerous beasts, and precarious terrains.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
