With the Micro Machines series committing seppuku with their last offering Micro Machines World Series, the gap for premium toy car racer has been left wide open. The Super Toy Cars series would be a good shout, but this racing series has all been about shrinking the action down whilst remaining a typical arcade racer. And with two instalments down, it’s done a pretty good job of that. This next release heads into much more dangerous terrain: Super Toy Cars Offroad is out now on Xbox and PC.
Through sand, snow, dirt and more, drive 20 wildly different vehicles across 15 dynamic tracks. Cars range from buggies, ATVs, big rigs and more; this time all tailored for top speed on offroad tracks. But there is still plenty of destruction to be had: the bigger cars might not be the fastest, but they can bully and break the other racers.
Taking feedback from both Super Toy Cars and Super Toy Cars 2, Super Toy Cars Offroad features the biggest career mode in the series so far. This time around there are over 80 events to get stuck into – sometimes literally if you hit a dirt puddle – and a host of new modes also. There are more obstacles than ever before too; you’ll need eyes on your opponents but also on wrecking balls, pool balls, hammers, spinning tops and more.
Local multiplayer returns for two players but this time there is no online multiplayer.
Super Toy Cars Offroad is available to download now priced at £16.74 on the Xbox Store. Those quick out of the starting blocks can pick it up at a discounted £14.22 for a short time.
