That’s right, after a lengthy delay, Ancestors Legacy has finally made the daunting leap from PC to console and it looks take us back to the Middle Ages for a real-time strategy experience that’s inspired by actual history events.
Now available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the complex RTS developed by Destructive Creations hopes to be as well received on console as it is on PC by porting all of its main features across. That means you can expect an intriguing campaign influenced by history, tactical squad-based battles, satisfying visuals, and extra hours of gameplay courtesy of the skirmish and online multiplayer modes. Most importantly, Ancestors Legacy aims to deliver not only in terms of content, but also its overall quality and its accessibility via the controller.
Within the extensive campaign, there are four playable nations to choose from – Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German, and Slav – before you’ll be then tasked with conquering, pillaging and raiding villages, towns and enemy camps. Furthermore, you must utilise a whole host of tactical options, take advantage of the surrounding environment, and manage bases and settlements in order to claim victory.
The game combines the tasks of resource management and building bases with large-scale, squad-based battles across a selection of vast battlefields – all of which are rendered in superb detail thanks to Unreal Engine 4.
