Horace releases on Xbox and PlayStation to deliver a classic platformer that pushes the boundaries of the genre with a rich and emotional storyline in which you play Horace, a small and lovable sentient robot who is adopted by a wealthy British family.

All seems normal so far? Well, after a period of deactivation, Horace comes back online to find himself thrown into a war-torn post-apocalyptic world. And, as we would all do in that situation, decides to embark on a journey of self-discovery while trying to locate his missing family.

Originally released on Steam in 2019, and Nintendo Switch in 2020, Horace has been gathering very positive reviews and the good news is that it is now available to buy and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Playstation.

Players navigate Horace through a 2D labyrinthine series of rooms, acquiring key items, unlocking new metroidvania inspired robot abilities and discovering previously hidden areas, all on a quest to discover the meaning of life, the universe and everything.

All the usual suspects of a classic platformer are in force, with you having to guide Horace safely through hazardous obstacles like spike-filled ravines and trap-lined ceilings in order to complete his quest. However, Horace is a platformer with a twist, as sprinkled throughout are numerous mini-games which have you switching into other genres – there’s a bit of action and some driving included here.

It’s a game that is sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces but will especially appeal to those of a certain vintage; those who love to revel in a bit of nostalgia from the 8- and 16-bit era. Horace is packed full of nostalgic pop culture references and contains fully-playable versions of typical arcade games.

Developed by just two people, Paul Helman and Sean Scapelhorn, Horace offers upwards of fifteen hours of varied gameplay, packed full of excitement and more than a few laughs.

The download of Horace for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S can be bought from the Xbox Store and at a price of £12.99 might just be worth a try. Keep an eye out for a review from us soon.
