Konami are on a roll and hot on the heels of their 25th anniversary celebrations throughout 2019, we now see them delivering an Iconic Moment Series to eFootball PES 2020. And with that comes the release of Data Pack 5.0 for good measure.

Back on the 21st July 1995, Konami launched J.League Jikkyou Winning Eleven in Japan, kicking off a series of games which has gone from strength to strength, allowing them to create the awesomeness that is eFootball PES 2020. Some 25 years on though they wish to celebrate that moment and this is where the Iconic Moment Series comes in.

To start the celebrations the “Iconic Moment Series” is an ongoing celebration of memorable moments produced by the finest stars of football, past and present. Each Iconic Moment Series player will commemorate a specific highlight of their career, with the player card featuring an actual image from that match and stats to mirror that period. In addition, each Iconic Moment Series player or Legend will be affiliated to a specific team, with a stat boost available if you match that player or Legend with your chosen myClub team.

As of today, all players of eFootball PES 2020 will receive an Iconic Moment Series Legend version of Maradona, commemorating his performance in the 1983 Spanish Cup Final for FC Barcelona. And then further to that, the following Iconic Moment Series Legends will also be available through in-game campaigns starting today:

  • Oliver Kahn (FC Bayern) – Iconic Match: 09/02/2002
  • Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (FC Bayern) – Iconic Match: 13/06/1981
  • Giovane Élber (FC Bayern) – Iconic Match: 17/05/2003
  • Carles Puyol (FC Barcelona) – Iconic Match: 17/05/2006
  • Xavi (FC Barcelona) – Iconic Match: 27/05/2009
  • Andres Iniesta (FC Barcelona) – Iconic Match: 06/05/2009

This 25th Anniversary campaign will continue going forward too, with additional in-game releases and announcements throughout the year, all intended to delight franchise veterans and new players from all over the world.

But whilst a call for celebration is great, in addition to that we see Data Pack 5.0 become available for eFootball PES 2020 via a free download on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This latest pack features over 30 new and updated player faces, with notable players including the likes of Reece James, Brandon Williams, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Todd Cantwell and Achraf Hakimi.

Konami are however also pushing out numerous bug fixes with this latest update, whilst they are also found joining FC Bayern in celebrating their momentous 120th Anniversary, with their official anniversary strip. It’s now available in game via Data Pack 5.0.

With eFootball PES 2020 taking the fight to EA and FIFA 20, and celebrations on going for the past success of the series, there is never a better time to lace up the old boots and jump back in. Let us know which of these Iconic Moments you’ll be looking forward to seeing by dropping in to the comments below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
