Lemnis Gate moves to Summer 2021 as next-gen versions confirmed

August 2020 already seems like a hell of a long time ago, but it was back then when we first heard of Ratloop Games Canada and Frontier Foundry’s turn-based strategic shooter, Lemnis Gate. The plan then was to release in early 2021 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. But things change, and as the release window is pushed back, we also find Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions of the game come into view.

Lemnis Gate will launch in summer 2021 (when in summer is to be confirmed!) on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC, delivering gamers the chance to enjoy some turn-based combat shooting that features revolutionary four-dimensional gameplay.

Lemnis Gate will look to bring together the cerebral intricacies of chess into a heart-pounding 4D first person shooter, in which players will look to spend time disrupting the past all in order to change the future.

That may sound ever so complicated but in reality it’s simple – defeat your opponents across five 25 second rounds and the job is a good ‘un. The twist though is that those 25 seconds are repeated as players take turns to execute an action, whether blasting enemies, capturing targets, or stealing objectives. After all turns have been taken the next round begins.

It’s the time-looping of Lemnis Gate which looks to be the big draw here as players build strategies both across the online and local scenes, taking part in 1v1 and 2v2 matches. With seven operatives in total, and each bringing their own primary weapon and special ability, those tactics and strategic calls should be grand. Expect to be rewarded handsomely if you are one of those who can think outside the box, working non-linear logic and abstract thinking.

For now hit up the latest trailer for Lemnis Gate below and then hold tight until the summer of 2021 when we’ll hopefully be seeing the game launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC via Steam.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
