Whitethorn Games know a thing or two about cozy little indie affairs. It’s they who previously helped push the likes of Wytchwood and Lake to the masses, gathering up acclaim as they did so. Next on the list of that of Onsen Master, as it releases on Xbox, Switch and PC to give players the chance to manage some hot springs.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, Onsen Master will see you attempting to wrangle the hottest-headed customers into the most soothing of springs, curing their ailments and fending off trouble as you do so.

It takes place on Izajima Island as the arcade-styled hot spring customer management experience plays out; whether that be as you enjoy things in solo player, or utilise the power of friends in the two-player co-op that is in place.

However you play, Onsen Master will see you needing to manage your hot springs, preparing things to the tee, and ensuring that the correct ingredients are in place for the customers at hand. The problem is, there are some troublesome yokai who are looking to put a stop to your kindness. Ultimately though, you’ll need to work with what is at hand in order to restore balance to the world and find out what has happened to the Onsen Master.

There are a ton of key features in place for this one, with all of the following of consideration…

  • Spring Fling: Experience a short and sweet story for up to two players, and unveil the island of Izajima in a visual novel style narrative with a cute anime aesthetic.
  • The Customer is Always Right: Skip the story and dive right in with Arcade Mode! Choose one of the 6 hot spring levels to put your customer service skills to the test.
  • The Heat is On: Take on others in a competitive couch multiplayer mode where players must each work to manage their customers within the same hot spring.
  • Spa Music: An original soundtrack full of tunes akin to a Feudal fairy tale, composed by Dorrell Ettienne.

We’ll be back with full review of Onsen Master very soon. For now though you can get your management fix by heading to the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s on Nintendo Switch from the eShop too, as well as on Steam for PC.

Game Description:

Onsen Master is a hot spring customer management game where players have been charged with the task of revitalizing hot springs across the fantasy island Izajima. Create ingredients to match the various customer ailments, reconnect the communities that surround each onsen, and discover the supernatural world they’ve long since been disconnected from. Dive into a 1-2 player Story Mode, or take on others in a competitive multiplayer.
