Microsoft have recently announced that they’ll be laying off 18000 employees and have also now revealed that the Xbox Entertainment Studios, those responsible for original Xbox programming, will close.

In a statement issued to GameSpot, Microsoft outlined its plans to “streamline a handful of portfolio and engineering development efforts across Xbox” This includes the shutdown of XES “in the coming month.”

Whilst the Halo projects, Halo: Nightfall and Spielberg’s Halo TV series look to continue there have to be massive doubts over whether any of the other Xbox Original titles that were announced a few months back will ever to come fruition.
