There’s certainly no questioning that the Xbox way has most definitely changed since Phil Spencer took charge with the focus on games coming to the fore whilst other ideas, including Xbox Originals looks to suffer.
Microsoft have recently announced that they’ll be laying off 18000 employees and have also now revealed that the Xbox Entertainment Studios, those responsible for original Xbox programming, will close.
In a statement issued to GameSpot, Microsoft outlined its plans to “streamline a handful of portfolio and engineering development efforts across Xbox” This includes the shutdown of XES “in the coming month.”
Whilst the Halo projects, Halo: Nightfall and Spielberg’s Halo TV series look to continue there have to be massive doubts over whether any of the other Xbox Original titles that were announced a few months back will ever to come fruition.
