Looking to involve yourself in some manic mining? Miner Meltdown is coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in the near future, with it promising to fill a void for those who are after a bit of competitive mining action.

Coming from the team at Mighty Pebble Games, and a brand new game publisher intent on delivering fun and engaging games on multiple platforms – Ultimas – Miner Meltdown on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will give you the opportunity to explore, explode, and thrust dance your way through randomly generated maps, all whilst taking in some crazy 4v4 chaos.

Providing fast-paced 2D team-based multiplayer action, Miner Meltdown will be coming to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this summer, and should you find yourself working your way through this mining romp, will discover a game focused on teams who are scouring random maps for gold, all while attempting to blow up the opposing team and earn the most points to win the match.

With a focus on fast-paced gameplay, Miner Meltdown will see players able to utilise jetpacks, ropes, and grapples to get around as they delve through the map for gold to upgrade their gear. By earning more gold than their opposition, players will be able to buy better weapons and gadgets, giving them more firepower to explode their enemies. And as you would expect, with each and every defeat of an enemy player, you will earn your team points, bringing your group closer to victory.

Miner Meltdown will come with completely destructible environments, letting you carve through each map while also surviving the random environmental pitfalls and traps along the way. The enemy team and environment aren’t the only obstacles in place though and various monsters will threaten your mining exploits as you hunt your way through the map earning points for every kill to get the edge on the enemy team.

For all this to work, Miner Meltdown will deliver online opportunities, letting you take in the madness with friends or solo gameplay for thos happy to battle it out against the AI. Expect to see different game modes too – deathmatch, crazy-king, and diamond dash, for instance.

The key features of Miner Meltdown include:

  • 4 vs 4 online multiplayer.
  • Randomly generated and 100% destructible terrain.
  • Over 20 unique weapons and gadgets to choose from.
  • Fast-paced gameplay using ropes, jetpacks, and grapples to traverse the map with ease.
  • Play solo against AI.
  • Deathmatch, Crazy King, and Diamond Dash modes.
  • Unlockable skins.
  • Tons of thrust-dancing.

What do you think? Will you be keeping an eye on the console progress of Miner Meltdown, or have you already played the game on Steam? We’re just hoping it’ll be better than Mining Rail 2.

We’ll be sure to keep you fully updated as to how things pan out, but in the meantime make sure you let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. The original launch trailer for PC is below too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
