It’s already hotly tipped to take down numerous Game of the Year awards, but Rockstar are already getting things in place to move Red Dead into the online world. Today we hear more details, and get utter confirmation, of the online beta for Red Dead Online.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a stunner, there is no getting away from that and near on every single gamer out there will have been tempted in by the story of Arthur Morgan and the trials and tribulations of the Van der Linde gand.
And whilst many more will be nowhere near finished with RDR2, Rockstar see it as prime time to make the most of the hype, by blending together the classic multiplayer found in the original Red Dead Redemption, with all their multiplayer knowledge, to create a totally new, completely fun experience that promises to evolve over time.
A vibrant new world will be created as Rockstar take Red Dead Redemption 2 as the foundation for Red Dead Online, transforming the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns and habitats into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players.
Whether you explore this world alone or with friends, you’ll be able to create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience. Forming a Posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your Camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole Posses in open world challenges and much more… the choices are endless.
In order for all of this to become a reality though, Rockstar need a beta period to ensure that everything works as intended. This will allow them to deal with the inevitable turbulence of launching an online experience of this size and scale, taking in ideas, listening to comments and fixing issues that arise.
