Promising hours of ‘nut-twisting platform action-adventure’ may initially be enough to turn many away, but Iconoclasts certainly looks to have something about it – and with a launch on Xbox One it’s time for a whole new bunch of gamers to try and uncover the X-Factor within.

Available to purchase and download right this very minute from the Xbox Store, Iconoclasts hits Xbox One after previously having spent time in the worlds of PC, Nintendo Switch and PS4, gathering up some rather tasty critical acclaim in the process.

Priced at £16.74 (with a launch discount also in place), Iconoclasts on Xbox One drops you into the life of Robin, a young girl who just wants nothing more in life than to be a mechanic, helping others in the process. Unfortunately not everything is as simple as that and Robin’s world is fast falling apart, leaving it to her to grab a wrench, and stick things back together again. And that is where you come in.

Set across some supremely detailed locales, Iconoclasts deals with both action and platforming – it could well be called an action platformer, in fact – pushing you along on this increasingly difficult adventure and promising to ensure that Robin’s nuts get in a twist in the process. And that’s not all either, as more than 20 bosses stand in Robin’s way, intent on stopping her from fixing the world.

Thankfully a clever tweak system will allow you to edit and amend your game difficulty as you see fit, and so should this tale of action and hijinks look like it’s about to hit a downward spiral, it shouldn’t be too tricky to save face again.

The Xbox Store will deliver the usual download to all Xbox One gamers, and by grabbing a purchase of Iconoclasts on Xbox One you should well discover a bit of an emotional rollercoasting tale. The question is, will you have the guts for it? Let us know in the comments below. And keep an eye out for a full review of Iconoclasts on Xbox One from us soon – we’ll be sure to get some coverage out there.

Game Description:

Robin just wants to be a mechanic and help people, but without a license she’s a sinner in Mother’s eyes. Ever since picking up her wrench, the world has been going nuts and she’s wanted to bolt it back together. Now Penance is raining down on everyone she loves and One Concern agents are after her. But something big is going on – bigger than droughts of Ivory fuel and personal conflicts – and Robin’s in the thick of it. Iconoclasts is the masterwork of indie developer Joakim Sandberg, seven long years in the making. Iconoclasts delivers awesome action, hilarious hijinks and an emotional rollercoaster of deeply personal storytelling.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
