Jisei The First Case HD 1

We’re getting to a point in which we pretty much know what to expect with a Ratalaika Games title – cheap asking price, simple achievements, and usually, a neat little gaming experience. On the face of it the launch of Jisei: The First Case HD looks to bring all those things and more as it launches on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Available to purchase this minute from the usual digital stores, Jisei: The First Case HD was initially created by those at Sake Visual way back in 2010, releasing on PC to deliver what was probably one of the founders of the visual novel genre. Now though Ratalaika have picked it up, dropping it on console with launch on Xbox One and PS4 today, with a Nintendo Switch release occurring on 24th July.

Priced at ÂŁ4.99, although currently discounted to ÂŁ3.99, Jisei: The First Case HD is set in a coffee shop, where our unnamed protagonist is accused of a murder he didn’t commit. Thankfully, he has a rather special ability – reliving the last memories of someone’s death – that allows him the chance to take in the facts, provide the information to the relevant authorities, and discover who is actually behind this coffee shop death.

Sold as a visual novel with HD artwork, a cast of voice actors who nail the premise, and as an experience that will let you sit back and try to understand what is what, Jisei: The First Case HD on Xbox One, PS4 and Switch will most certainly appeal to fans of the genre.

Our full review is up and live, letting you know how Jisei plays out on Xbox One – spoiler free of course – and we urge you to give it a read prior to putting your usual digital purchase in. Once you have, the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Nintendo eShop will sort you out with a download. Let us know which format you decide to pick it up on.

Game Description:

A teenager with no name and no home wanders from one city to the next, burdened by the weight of his extraordinary ability. When he is accused of murdering a woman that he’s never met, he sets out to prove his innocence and find the true killer. The investigation quickly takes a turn for the complicated when a strange voice appears in his head, warning him to watch his step. Search for clues, interrogate witnesses, and find a murderer. Even with your extra abilities, it will still take solid facts and logic to prove your innocence! Enjoy this cult classic indie mystery visual novel with HD art, backgrounds, and assets!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
