It was a couple of months back that we spied Mechapunk rocking up onto Nintendo Switch, available through the eShop. We took it no further. Now though that same Mechapunk has rocked up onto Xbox – and we feel now is the time for us to prove our worth.

Available to purchase and download on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through the Xbox Store, also still available on Nintendo Switch should you prefer, Mechapunk from Weakfish Studios (they previously behind Pandaty) is a side-scrolling 2D action adventuring platformer, fitting in pretty much everything you would expect of the genre.

It comes very well priced at a mere £4.19 (with a launch discount dropping that down further) and will see any prospective buyer look to take on a journey into the unknown. Playing as the titular Mechapunk (at least, that’s what we think is going on), you’ll be tasked with making it through screens of challenge, increasing as progress is made.

Mechapunk doesn’t sell itself as an easy little run either, with Weakfish and the development team at 909games playing on the ‘seriously hard’ aspects. But it also comes with some great little parkouring elements, alongside a combat system to ensure that everything plays nicely.

In all, the key features include:

  • Challenging level design
  • Seriously hard.
  • Cool parkour dynamics
  • Soft and Fast fighting system
  • A Fast and Polished game

So, are you up for a challenge? Mechapunk is on the Xbox Store right now for Xbox One and, whisper it, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S. Go and grab it.

Game Description:

Mechapunk is 2D Action Adventure Platformer Game, Our main character embarks on an adventure, but what room! Robots have taken over the world! Embark on a grand adventure in this mechanized world! But fear not, our character is a professional at this!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
