Retro Pixel Racers line up on the Xbox grid

We’d be lying if we said we loved JanduSoft titles. That’s not to say that there’s not a draw with what is pushed out to market by the publishing team, but being honest, the quality isn’t always what we would expect – just look at Nape Retroverse Collection for confirmation of that. We’re hoping a corner is turned with the launch of Retro Pixel Racers.

Retro Pixel Racers is the kind of game we grew up with. A top-down arcade racer in which nothing matters other than crossing the finish line first. It helps that it comes with that 16-bit style that many know and love too, offering up even more memories of the best games from years gone by.

Available to purchase, download and play on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S right now – with it coming with Smart Delivery and full Series X|S optimisation, ensuring that the version you are playing is the finest available for your system – Retro Pixel Racers could well be an addictive little racing hit.

It’s obvious that the graphical style may only appeal to a few, but with the promise of speed and the immersion that was last felt when we spent many an hour in the smog of the arcades, there’s hope. It’s helped along further by the inclusion of twenty-six different circuits, with twenty vehicles to enjoy racing with and an easy-to-handle, hard-to-master playstyle.

We’re more than happy to take a punt with Retro Pixel Racers, hoping that JanduSoft have finally managed to land a bit of a hit. Stay tuned for a full review from us soon but in the meantime you can grab a download from the Xbox Store for £4.19.

Game Description:

Retro Pixel Racers is a fun top-down arcade racing game with a retro style graphics where you control of little cars racing over exciting tracks. Start your engines and prepare for the craziest and most addictive racing game ever. Fast-paced racing game with a fresh interpretation of the 16-bit style. This is an arcade racing game based on games that I loved playing in the arcades growing up. You could say it’s inspired by those games, maybe a tribute to them or simply a rip off, any of these could be true!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
